Valtra T191H tractor engine

This tractor is equipped with a four-stroke six-cylinder diesel engine model Sisu 74 CTA 4V, with a liquid cooling system and turbocharging. This is a powerful, productive and high-torque diesel engine, which is also used on a number of models of other European-made tractors and combines. It complies with European Tier 3 / Stage 3A standards and is equipped with an electronic Common Rail injection system.

The system injects diesel fuel in stages, up to five times in one operating cycle. The electronic engine control unit calculates the amount of diesel fuel required for injection over a hundred times per second and the amount of cyclic feed correction. Thanks to multi-stage fuel injection, fuel consumption is reduced and the toxicity of exhaust gases is reduced.

Each cylinder of this engine has four valves - to ensure increased performance of the unit, even in conditions of its daily long-term operation under the highest possible loads. The engine combustion chamber is with direct injection. The direction of rotation (from the flywheel side) is counterclockwise.

Electronic engine management provides such a convenient function as reducing the engine speed when idling. It works like this: When the parking brake is applied, the speed is reduced from 850 to 650 rpm.

Transmission of the Valtra T191N tractor

The gearbox includes 36/36 speeds, divided into three groups of 4 gears, three stages with automatic shifting and power shift reversing on the left or right; at reduced speeds 40 or 50 km/h. Clutch type: double, multi-disc wet type (forward/reverse).

Valtra has integrated many practical solutions into the transmission and control system of the T191N tractor. In particular, the clutch pedal is only needed for maneuvering – since the clutch is integrated into the reversing and the clutch release button is located on the gear lever. As already noted, programmable and switchable automatic all-wheel drive engages front-wheel drive when starting off, when changing gears and changing direction. It turns off automatically when braking.

In the simplest version of the transmission of this tractor - Classic - you need to use three whole levers, and switching ranges at first, out of habit, does not seem very convenient. On newer T191N tractors, starting from 2009, continuously variable gearboxes are already available. This system is Valtra’s own development, based on the Power Shuttle transmission. In this case, the load-connected transmission is replaced by a hydrostat.

Hydraulics and lifting mechanism

The tractor's lifting capacity is in a decent range and owners praise it. According to reviews, the hydraulic connections in the rear are not very well located - they are located a little high, although otherwise they are quite practical.

These models take a new level of maneuverability with a turning radius of just 5.25 meters, thanks to a narrowed engine, integrated front linkage and front PTO. Operator's cabin and workplace

For those who find themselves in the cabin of a Valtra T series tractor for the first time, it will be unusual and even a little surprising to pick up a small, as if deliberately made “sporty” steering wheel. But, as you know, you get used to good things quickly, beginning to appreciate the tenacity and precision of this “steering wheel”, which ensure stable control of the movements of a heavy special vehicle and its maneuvers.

A machine operator who has to maneuver a lot and actively (for example, when working with a front loader) can install an additional mushroom handle on the steering wheel.
