Description of the car

This is a medium-tonnage dump truck that boasts a durable cargo platform. The machine is distinguished by a remarkable feature - the design ability to unload to the sides and back. The equipment is represented by a pair of rear axles.

The strength of the vehicle is endurance and excellent technical characteristics, due to which KAMAZ 55102 turns out to be the optimal solution for transporting various cargoes. In addition to its main purpose - transporting construction materials - the machine is often used to transport goods to meet the needs of agriculture.

KAMAZ 55102 is a dump truck whose technical characteristics make the vehicle indispensable in field conditions, on rough terrain and on highways. The design of the tractor provides for driving the vehicle as part of a road train, that is, with trailers.

It is also possible to connect with semi-trailers weighing no more than 11.5 tons. Frequent use of the car for agricultural purposes is the reason why the car received the nickname “farmer”.

This unspoken name appeared due to various modifications of the truck, used primarily for transporting grain. During field harvesting, KAMAZ is used as the optimal vehicle for transporting large volumes of grain crops.

Among those characteristics of KamAZ 55102 it is worth noting that a sleeping place is not provided by the manufacturer, which makes long trips impossible. For this reason, the KAMAZ vehicle of this modification is of interest to transport companies more as a “workhorse” for cargo transportation within the region.

The presence of a trailer, slight pressure on the dirt road, double tires - all this makes it possible to fill the machine from under the combine, and subsequently transport the products to the grain storage. KAMAZ 55102 is actively used by construction companies as a truck for delivering bulk construction materials.

The number 6 indicates that the carrying capacity of KAMAZ is from 20 to 40 tons. Index 5 classifies the vehicle as a dump truck. Onboard KAMAZ trucks are numbered 3 (there are about 20 models). The third and fourth digits indicate the model serial number, the fifth is the modification number.

This index value applies not only to KAMAZ vehicles, but also to ZIL, GAZ and MAZ, except for models produced before 1966. In the digital abbreviation, after the first two digits there are designations of the serial model number, and the modification number is added after a dash.

Wheels

KamAZ-55102 is equipped with wheels without discs. They are presented in the form of a rim, locking and side rings. The bead ring is fixed to the wheel rim using a locking ring. The wheel hubs are securely secured with nuts and studs.

In order to mount the wheelset on the hub, a special spacer ring was used. It provided some distance between the rubber. The tires consisted of 12 layers. These were radial tube tires. Tire width – 260 mm.

Device and characteristics

Speaking about 55102, it is worth knowing that this is a classic representative of trucks produced during the Soviet era. The cabin is equipped with a heater from the power unit cooling system.

Driver seat belts are mandatory. Transportation of various types of bulk cargo became possible thanks to a platform with a rectangular shape. Rocks and cobblestones are exceptions as these natural materials are likely to harm the integrity of the body.

Side and extension sides are securely closed using torsion mechanisms. The sides are held in the open position by metal chains. It is possible to unload the machine on both sides without having to leave the cabin, for which an electro-pneumatic remote control is used. Dump truck cabin

The KamAZ-55102 agricultural dump trucks were equipped with a standard KamAZ unified cab - all-metal, built in a cabover configuration, without a berth. It is located directly above the engine and is designed for two people. When carrying out maintenance or repair of the power unit, the cabin tilts forward. A heating system is installed inside. To improve the driver's working conditions, the KamAZ-55102 truck cab is equipped with a sprung suspension and interior upholstery that reduces noise and vibration inside the cabin.

But a forced ventilation system was not provided in the KamAZ-55102 cabin - the interior is ventilated by natural ventilation, through opening windows, vents and a sunroof. The interior heating system is water-based, powered by the engine cooling system. In subsequent years of production (second half of the 90s), the cabin was modernized: all optics were moved to the massive front bumper; and the roof began to be located noticeably higher.

Weight parameters and dimensions

KamAZ 55102 has the following weight characteristics:

  • the load at full weight is 4.5 tons on the front axle, 11130 kg on the rear;
  • load capacity – 7 tons;
  • curb weight of the vehicle – 8.48 tons;

Price

Due to the cessation of mass production in the 2000s, there are currently no KamAZ-55102 trucks left with zero or at least minimal mileage. Therefore, you can only purchase used copies.

There are now really a large number of offers of used equipment on the secondary market. The price of cars is mainly indicated taking into account the year of manufacture, technical condition, and, of course, mileage. Thus, for versions released between 1989 and 1993, they often ask for from 250 thousand to 400 thousand rubles. For more recent trucks produced from 1995 to 2002, you will have to pay from 700 thousand to 1.2 million rubles.

Modifications

The KAMAZ 55102 truck is a more modern representative of the Kama Automobile Plant family of vehicles. The model is capable of taking on board up to 10 tons of various types of cargo. There are two modifications of KAMAZ 55102 in the production line:

  • 55102-053 – model with a body with extension sides. The design provides for doubling the volume of the platform.
  • 55102-050 – a vehicle with a body with main sides.

Model 55102-053 is capable of transporting more cargo. Both modifications have found application in the manufacturing, agricultural and construction sectors. The technical characteristics of the KamAZ 55102 dump truck make cargo transportation extremely profitable for specialized enterprises, since the vehicle is ready to work in different climatic conditions, regardless of weather conditions.

Lifting mechanism

A subframe is installed under the platform. Its design is represented by longitudinal channels, cross members and beams. The front and rear beams have special recesses at the edges that serve to secure the platform during unloading. The driver can choose the direction in which the body will be unloaded: if on the left side, then only it needs to be fixed, but if on the right, then the right side is fixed accordingly.

On the same subframe, two hydraulic lifting mechanisms are installed, consisting of a pump, hydraulic drives and a telescopic cylinder on each of the mechanisms.

Engine

Equipped with a four-stroke eight-cylinder power unit, the vehicle has virtually no equal in regional transportation. The engine is distinguished by the presence of turbocharging and an air cooling system. The sleeves are made of high quality cast iron. The cast engine block is also made from cast iron.

Fuel consumption depends on the technical characteristics of the vehicle, as well as the load and some other parameters, including the speed limit. Fuel consumption at a speed of 60 km/h is 24 liters per 100 km.

If you have a trailer, this figure increases to 35 l/100 km. When traveling at a speed of 80 km/h, fuel consumption per hundred kilometers will be 31 and 47 liters without a trailer and with it, respectively.

The technical characteristics of the 1992 KamAZ 55102 are still relevant today, thanks to which the truck continues to actively compete with many modern imported dump trucks.

Flaws

In general, this truck turned out to be very successful, but it was not without its shortcomings. Almost all versions have average build quality. The metal of the cabin is susceptible to corrosion, and therefore, if the spots are not treated immediately, the growth of rust will not take long.

Another drawback is the comfort of the cabin, but this is more likely due to the wide selection of foreign trucks. In those years when the car was produced, the level of comfort in the cabin was quite acceptable, but nowadays it is difficult to say anything about comfort. Although there is upholstery in the cabin, extraneous noises are clearly audible, especially the hum of a running engine. The interior of the truck can also be called spartan.

In addition, many owners complain about the low reliability of individual elements. For example, the pneumatic system often leaks. However, this drawback is largely due not to the build quality, but to the age of the car.

Total information

KAMAZ-45143 is an agricultural dump truck with side unloading, 6x4 wheel arrangement and a rectangular body. The platform is lifted by a hydraulic mechanism.

Cabin: all-metal, three-seater, tilting forward, located above the engine, has noise and thermal insulation. Depending on the configuration, it can be equipped with a sleeping place.

Load capacity 12.1 tons, volume of transported cargo up to 15.4 cubic meters

Platform: metal with two-sided lateral unloading using a hydraulic mechanism and folding side walls, with an opening tailgate depending on the version. The platform tipping mechanism is hydraulic with electro-pneumatic remote control.

For operation with a trailer, the vehicle is equipped with a towing device (TCU) of the “pin-and-loop” type.

The fuel consumption of the KAMAZ 45143 vehicle is (standard, not loaded) 26 l/100 km in summer and 28.6 l/100 km in winter.

Clutch, gearbox

KamAZ-55102 is equipped with a disc friction dry clutch. Gearbox - manual. The 10-speed gearbox includes 5 forward gears (half gears) and 1 reverse gear. The gearbox works in tandem with a gearbox, which provides the car with direct and reduced operating ranges. The vehicle's power units are mounted on five supports on the chassis.

The transmission also has a locking center differential and a middle axle. The cardan shaft is made in the form of two shafts. They are routed directly from the middle axle gearbox to the rear axle.
