Despite the fact that the flagship DAF XF105 truck can no longer be considered a new product, since it debuted in 2005, interest in it from buyers has not waned. Shortly after its successful debut, in 2007 the DAF XF105 won the prestigious Truck of the Year competition.
The first copies of the 105 series appeared on Russian roads in 2006, and since then the car’s popularity has been growing every year. That is why we decided to present to readers in detail what the DAF XF105 is.
About the model
The 105th series replaced the 95th, which was mass-produced from 2001 to 2007 and earned good reviews from operators. For just over a year, both models rolled off the assembly line in parallel, but in 2007, production of the XF 95 was completed.
Models of the 105 series, unlike the XF95, which were equipped only with Euro-3 engines, began to be supplied with power units that meet the Euro-4 and Euro-5 environmental standards. Since 2013, the model began to be equipped with a Euro-6 standard engine.
The DAF XF105 received a newly developed Paccar MX engine with a power range of 410, 460 and 510 horsepower.
If we talk about the external design, it has remained virtually unchanged compared to the design of the previous generation models. The trucks are equipped with two types of sleeper cabs, the internal volume of which is larger than that of the XF 95 series cabs.
The truck chassis of the flagship series are represented by 4x2, 6x2, 6x4 and 8x4 wheel arrangements. The engines of the 105 series trucks are coupled with a 16-speed ZF manual transmission, as well as a 12- or 16-speed AS Tronic automatic transmission.
Despite the wide variety of manufactured modifications, the most popular model in our country has become a long-haul tractor with a 4x2 chassis formula, which we will try to talk about in more detail.
EUROsaving: test drive of new DAF products
Relatively recently, we introduced our readers to new products from DAF TRUCKS. At first these were the CF and XF series trucks in the 2015 Edition. And we even managed to ride on some of them. Then it came to the LF series, with which familiarity was purely optional, in particular, the Silent version. Now it’s time to communicate, as they say, live. At the same time, get acquainted with the innovations applied on the CF and XF series
Sergey Zhukov
Let us recall that the leitmotif of the DAF Transport Efficiency concept is a full range of products and services aimed at further increasing profits per kilometer by reducing costs and increasing vehicle availability. From this angle we will try to consider the new products offered to us.
DAF LF 2016 EDITION
As part of the DAF Transport Efficiency programme, DAF has developed a number of improvements to the popular LF series for regional transport. Thus, the DAF LF 2016 Edition is equipped with optimized versions of power units. The 4.5L PACCAR PX-5 engine (152-213 hp) with advanced software and after-treatment with improved thermal management and airflow management reduces fuel consumption by up to 5%.
With the help of a driver's driving behavior monitoring system, you can achieve very good results in fuel efficiency. So, on a DAF LF 210 FA with a PACCAR Aerobody body we managed to get very good fuel consumption - 19.9 l/100 km
The 6.7 liter PACCAR PX-7 engine (223–314 hp) can now be supplied with an optional 12-speed AS Tronic automated transmission. Compared to the currently used 6-speed automated gearbox, this new version increases the gross train weight to 32 tonnes and thus provides improved productivity. Moreover, lowering the engine speed allows for even lower fuel consumption and noise levels.
Other improvements to the DAF LF include new spoilers and cabin fairings that provide fuel savings of up to 4%. A new air intake directly behind the cab ensures optimal aerodynamics and allows for the installation of additional equipment such as height-adjustable roof spoilers, cab-mounted refrigeration units and cab height extension units.
The driver's workplace on the DAF LF 2016 Edition is not only convenient, but also provides complete information content
For refrigerated vehicles based on the DAF LF 2016 Edition, it is possible to prepare for the installation of a Frigoblock generator (water-cooled, 22.5 kW) in combination with a 4.5 liter PACCAR PX-5 engine. Since there are some restrictions on the use of external refrigeration units at night, Frigoblock can take over these functions without going beyond the decibel limits.
The wheelbase of the LF series can now reach 6.9 m, thereby providing a payload length of up to 9.0 m and the ability to transport maximum cargo volumes. The new long wheelbase allowed the installation of fuel tanks with a capacity of up to 1240 liters. This is a kind of record for this class of trucks. As a result, the range of cargo transportation increases. Another cost advantage is the ability to refuel where diesel prices are lower.
Additionally, new LED taillights with the longest possible service life are available.
Using a factory-made aerodynamic van allows you to save from 4 to 8% of fuel, depending on operating conditions
The DAF Driver Performance Assistant on LF, CF and XF models provides the driver with detailed information about fuel economy, braking performance and the quality of the driver's traffic forecasts.
As of the DAF LF 2016 Edition, tachograph information is now also available on the central information display. This allows drivers to more effectively control vehicle speed and driving time to avoid violations of regulations. In addition, the screen displays the time of the next routine technical inspection of the truck in order to monitor its timely completion. Based on data from the driver card, the display will automatically switch to the appropriate language for maximum driver convenience.
The DAF LF 2016 Edition (vehicles from 8t gross vehicle weight with rear air suspension) comes standard with Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS), Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS) is also standard equipment.
DAF LF 2016 Edition can also work in the construction sector
For example, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) automatically adjusts the truck's speed to match the speed of vehicles ahead. As a result, it becomes possible to maintain a safe distance between two vehicles. This allows you to use the cruise control system more often, which has a beneficial effect on fuel consumption.
As a sample for communication, a DAF LF 210 FA with a total weight of 12 tons (load was 80% of the nominal), equipped with a factory aerodynamic PACCAR Aerobody body with a body kit, was chosen. The car showed excellent maneuverability in the cramped spaces of city streets. At the same time, despite the use of a 4-cylinder engine and a 6-speed automated gearbox, it did not stray at all from the general rhythm of the highways. I was also pleased with the rear air suspension. The only thing that caused inconvenience was the low efficiency of the engine brake, but this is already a feature of the power unit itself. Therefore, we had to adapt to specific traffic conditions and the capabilities of the machine itself. The result was a good result, displayed on the on-board computer monitor. By the way, according to the company, in the urban cycle such a van saves up to 4% of fuel, and when driving at speeds up to 85 km/h - up to 8%.
A solution for transporting bulk cargo with low specific gravity. Maximum possible volume 120 m3
Another extraordinary vehicle was also tested - a DAF LF 280 FA with a Konar single-axle trailer, designed for a total road train weight of 26 tons (nominally 22 tons). Used for the transportation of bulk cargo with low specific gravity, such a road train can, in its largest combination (18.75 m, 2-axle trailer with close axles), transport cargo up to 120 m3 at a time. Other positive aspects include a 600-liter fuel tank, good maneuverability despite the length of the hitch, and the operation of a 6-cylinder 280-horsepower engine.
DAF SILENT
A striking example of the implementation of the DAF Transport Efficiency concept is the Silent model range, designed specifically for intra-city transportation in the evening and at night.
The Silent model range opens with the DAF LF 2016 Edition delivery van
Following the introduction of the successful CF and XF Silent models, DAF late last year introduced a low-noise regional transport truck based on the LF range. The new version is designed specifically for intracity and regional transportation in places where noise restrictions have been introduced in the evening and at night.
Thus, a special button allows the driver to turn on “silent mode”, in which the engine software switches to a program that limits torque and engine speed; In this case, gear shifting is carried out at lower engine speeds. This means that DAF Silent models achieve a noise level of no more than 72 dB(A), which meets the requirements for quiet truck certification.
“Quiet” urban distribution can be represented by a road train based on DAF CF
The 7.5 t DAF LF Silent is powered by a 4.5 liter PACCAR PX-5 engine delivering 152-184 hp. With. Operators looking for even greater payload or extra space can choose the DAF CF Silent, equipped with a 10.8 liter PACCAR MX-11 engine delivering 286-435 hp. With. The XF Silent, on the other hand, only comes with the high-performance 435 hp MX-11 engine. With.
DAF CF
The CF Series, powered by the PACCAR PX-7 engine, has been expanded with a new model featuring a 7.5-tonne trailing axle with single wheels located behind a 13-tonne drive axle. This solution makes it possible to increase the total payload to almost 19 tons, and the weight of the road train to 32 tons. In addition, for use in more severe conditions, the range includes a number of versions equipped with a trailing axle with dual wheels.
This key switches to “quiet” mode
The new trailing axle versions are the ideal solution for areas with special vehicle requirements, such as urban and intercity transport, including food, construction materials, refrigerated goods and livestock, where frequent maneuvering is required in confined spaces.
All new trailing axle models are available in Day Cab, Sleeper Cab and Space Cab configurations.
These configurations are available with a 6-cylinder PACCAR PX-7 6.7 liter engine producing 283 or 314 hp. With. A 9-speed manual transmission is offered as standard equipment, with an optional 12-speed AS Tronic automated gearbox available. For even higher payload capacity, three-axle CF models are still available with the 10.8L PACCAR MX-11 and 12.9L PACCAR MX-13 engines.
Workplace in DAF CF: comfort, information content, and most importantly - pleasure from communicating with the truck
On the 25-kilometer route, it was decided to go with a DAF CF 280 FAN 6×2 with an optional 12-speed AS Tronic gearbox. The truck, designed for a hollow weight of 26 tons, was loaded to 21 tons. This was immediately felt. However, as soon as we got out on the track, the car proved that it still has gunpowder in its flasks. At the same time, there was a unique rumble in the driver’s cabin, reminiscent of the operation of a marine diesel engine at constant speed. This is where the nickname “distribution ship” was born.
The performance of the engine brake turned out to be much better. The only caveat is the location of the monitor, which can also serve as a navigator - on the right below the right hand on the steering wheel. Do you understand what we are talking about? At some point, it is not only blocked by your hand, but you also have to be distracted from the road situation in order to read the information. That is why many of the passenger cars came to display it either on the dashboard in direct visibility or on the windshield, borrowing this solution from fighter aircraft.
DAF XF LOW DECK
As part of the same DAF Transport Efficiency program, DAF has expanded its model range by adding tractors with a low coupling height of 910 mm. This solution allows you to increase profit per kilometer of track by increasing the loading volume to more than 100 m3 while maintaining the maximum permissible dimensions.
This year the PACCAR PX-7 powered CF range has been expanded to include a 7.5 tonne trailing axle with single wheels behind a 13 tonne drive axle.
DAF achieved the 910 mm height by installing a fifth wheel that measures just 140 mm, which is 22 mm smaller than the 162 mm of existing low-hitch models. A further reduction in height is ensured by the installation of low profile tires. Thus, tires of size 315/45R22.5 are used on the rear axles. The 355/50R22.5 tires already familiar to consumers or the new 375/45R22.5 tires can be installed at the front. The latter were jointly developed by DAF and Goodyear and will be available exclusively to DAF customers next year.
Rear suspension geometry also plays a significant role in reducing fifth wheel height. The design of the reaction rods, brackets and other elements has been completely changed. In addition to reducing the height of the fifth-wheel coupling, this led to a decrease in roll when cornering, and as a result, to an almost complete absence of rear axle displacement. The handling and maneuverability characteristics of these tractors have increased significantly.
In conjunction with the new low-hitch models, DAF has developed new cab fairings and a roof spoiler for the XF Space Cab and Super Space Cab. Their optimal interaction with the aerodynamic characteristics of the trailer allows for a reduction in fuel consumption by 1.5%.
The new CF and XF low-hitch tractor units are available with a 3.8m wheelbase and an 8-tonne front axle with parabolic or air suspension. As a power unit, you can order both the PACCAR MX-11 engine with a volume of 10.8 liters and the PACCAR MX-13 with a volume of 12.9 liters.
After driving the DAF XF 440 FT 4x2 Low Deck, two undeniable points remain: the use of these trucks is possible only on good roads, the driver needs to select the suspension position in advance according to the circumstances. This is guaranteed by the presence of keys for adjusting the position of both the front and rear suspension of the truck.
The Low Deck version of the DAF XF truck tractor was marked by the appearance of a modification with the fifth wheel coupling located at a height of only 910 mm. This solution allows you to increase the useful volume of the semi-trailer to 100 m3
Even the presence of frequent speed bumps in the city prompted a quick switch to the increased ground clearance mode.
This was our introduction to the latest achievements of DAF Trucks. It took place in Sitges, Catalonia, on the Mediterranean coast. It was here that all the diversity of roads and terrain came together in an amazing way. Their presence helped to most fully evaluate all the capabilities of the trucks, which, in fact, was done.

DAF XF105 2012
The 2012 model, equipped with a Space Cab type cab, bears the DAF FT XF105.410 index. Upon closer examination, differences from the previous generation XF 95 are not difficult to find. The radiator trim on current models has grown significantly in size and is now decorated with a chrome molding.
The outer panel of the cabin has also been slightly modified. The steel bumper has built-in spotlights, a pair on each side. The headlights, protected by impact-resistant shades, are equipped with halogen lamps. The roof and sides of the tractor cab are crowned with aerodynamic fairings that increase fuel efficiency, and a sun visor is attached along the windshield. There are boxes for spare parts and tools on both sides of the cabin.
Convenient access to the cabin is provided by three steps located one above the other and handrails attached to the sides of the doorways. To protect against dirt from entering when the vehicle is moving, the two upper steps are closed with a cab door.
The interior has undergone much more radical changes compared to the previous model. First of all, the lower engine tunnel is striking. On the truck we were considering, the distance from the engine compartment to the ceiling was 175 centimeters. The developers managed to achieve this by installing a more compact power unit. The parking brake lever has moved to the front panel, and the gearshift lever has become foldable. As a result, the interior has become more spacious, and access to the sleeping area has become more comfortable.
The sleeping compartment of the XF 105 is represented by two spacious shelves for relaxation. The lower shelf is 210 cm long and 81 cm wide. Can also be used as a sofa. Under the shelf there is a capacious storage compartment and a refrigerator, opposite which there is a small pull-out table. The top shelf is also quite comfortable. In the transport position, the shelf is fixed at an angle of 45 degrees, and if necessary, it quickly unfolds using a special mechanism. Convenient access to the top shelf is provided by a folding ladder made of aluminum alloy.
The driver's workplace is no less comfortable. The air-suspended seat is equipped with an adjustable mechanism to ensure optimal seating.
The four-spoke multi-function steering wheel with integrated keys allows you to control the truck's various systems. The instrument panel has acquired a more modern design. In the center of the dashboard there is an on-board computer display, which displays all the most important information about the operation of various systems and units of the tractor. On the sides there is a speedometer, tachometer, indicators of fluid temperature, fuel level, air pressure, etc.
DAF XF105 4×2 FT Super Space Cab
The door panel contains buttons for adjusting the four rear-view mirrors and switches for the electric windows. On the console to the right of the driver's seat there are switches for the heating and ventilation systems. There is also a convenient, spacious shelf for storing items and documents necessary on the road.
Storage shelves are also located above the windshield. As standard, the truck is equipped with an air conditioning system, a high-quality audio radio, and a cruise control system.
There is no need to raise the cab for daily maintenance. All main filler necks are located behind the front panel of the cab. Despite the fact that all the necessary information is displayed on the on-board computer display, if visual inspection is necessary, you can always raise the cabin using a hydraulic lift and gain access to all the main components and assemblies of the tractor.
Technical part
A completely new power unit has been developed for the DAF XF105. The sample we tested is equipped with a six-cylinder Paccar MX 300 diesel engine with a power of 410 horsepower and a displacement of 12.9 liters. Thanks to the use of modern SCR technology, the engine meets the requirements of the Euro-5 environmental standard.
DAF experts claim that the engines of the Paccar family meet the most stringent requirements in terms of their efficiency, reliability and durability.
The service interval for engines when operating on mineral oils has been increased to 90 thousand km, and when using synthetics - up to 150 thousand km.
However, when they are operated on Russian fuel, engine maintenance must be carried out after 60 thousand mileage. The warranty period for the main units and components is two years, and the vehicle as a whole is one year.
The DAF XF105 sample that was tested was equipped with a four-speed ZF “mechanics” equipped with a divider and range-multiplier. Braking system - disc on all wheels, electronically controlled by EBS. The front suspension is spring, the rear suspension is pneumatic with four cylinders.
An 850-liter fuel tank is installed under the left side of the tractor; on the right there is a muffler, a battery compartment and a container for Ad Blue fluid. The spare tire is also located here. Thanks to the design of the tractor frame, the receivers and elements of the braking system are hidden inside the frame, so in place of the spare wheel, as an option, you can order the installation of an additional fuel tank, which will increase the fuel reserve to 1500 liters, and the spare wheel, with such a solution, can be placed on the semi-trailer.
The sound insulation of the cabin is quite good, you can talk in a low voice in the cabin when the engine is running, a set of rear-view mirrors allows you to clearly see everything that is happening around the road train, the design of the steering wheel provides the driver with a comfortable grip without blocking the dashboard. I liked the fact that the information on the computer display is displayed at the driver’s request and does not distract him while driving. Since 2009, a Russified menu has appeared on trucks supplied to our country.
When testing the gearbox, everything worked flawlessly, the effort on the lever to shift was minimal, the most pleasant impression was left by the smoothness and handling, responsiveness of the steering wheel and brakes.
Excellent driving performance, along with comfort and an economical engine, allow the truck to fully comply with its role as a flagship in a wide range of vehicles from the Dutch concern DAF.

New DAF XF 2013
Since the fall of 2013, a new flagship of the Dutch automaker DAF has appeared on the Russian market - the DAF XF long-haul tractor. Despite the fact that the truck is produced under the same designation as its predecessor, at its core it is practically a new vehicle, the design of which has been seriously modified and brought into line with the most current environmental and operational requirements.
Let's start getting acquainted with the updated XF 105 model with the design of the chassis. It has undergone significant changes, the main goal of which was to reduce the total weight of the vehicle and a more compact layout of the units.
Thanks to the use of higher quality steel grades, it was possible to reduce the weight of the chassis while maintaining high strength characteristics. A reduction in the total curb weight was also achieved due to the new design of the rear axle, the suspension of which is equipped with the Stabilink system. The model has also shed extra pounds thanks to a lighter fifth wheel, battery compartment and innovative steering mechanism. As a result, the total curb weight of the tractor has significantly decreased, which has made it possible to increase the efficiency of cargo transportation using the DAF XF105.
The need for a new arrangement of units arose due to an increase in the environmental class of the power unit. To install new systems, more free space was required. In the new layout, the SCR exhaust gas neutralizer is assembled in one unit with the particulate filter, and the AdBlue fluid tank is moved to the rear wall of the driver's cabin. Instead of these components, new pumps, hydraulic fluid reservoirs and an additional fuel tank are placed on the frame, allowing fuel reserves to be increased to 1,500 liters. All components and assemblies are covered with special fairings, which can significantly improve the aerodynamic qualities of the car, which affect fuel consumption.
The new flagship appeared on the market on the eve of the introduction of the Euro-6 environmental standard in EU countries. The entire range of 105 engines now meets these standards. The engine range now includes a completely new diesel unit, the PACCAR MX 11, with a displacement of 10.8 liters. However, the base engine for the tractor was the PACCAR MX 13 with a volume of 12.9 liters, equipped with a Common Cail system, a turbine with variable cross-section geometry and an exhaust gas neutralization mechanism.
photo of DAF XF-105 from the presentation
To reduce the geometric volumes of the power unit, a fuel filter and a moisture separation system are combined into a single unit. The cooler, thermostat and oil filter are also assembled into a single unit. Thanks to the installation of a larger oil sump, the oil change interval has been extended. All accessory systems are driven by a single drive belt, making maintenance easy. The durability and lightness of the block and cylinder heads is ensured by graphite inclusions in the cast iron.
PACCAR MX 13
The service life of the PACCAR MX 13 engine has been increased to 1.6 million km. The PACCAR MX 13 can be equipped with 12 or 16-speed manual transmissions with a manual or automatic shift mechanism.
Like most modern foreign-made heavy trucks, the 2013 DAF XF105 is packed to the brim with all sorts of auxiliary components and systems, the purpose of which is to improve safety, efficiency and driver comfort.
Among such systems, it is worth mentioning the Intarder 3 transmission brakes, coupled with the gearbox, an automatic engine shutdown system in parking lots, which provides savings of up to one and a half liters of diesel fuel per hour, a system for selecting the optimal driving mode, an automatic speed control system on descents, an automatic “soft” » activation of the cruise control system, which maintains the set speed.
The FactShift and Ecoroll systems installed in the modified gearbox allow you to easily and accurately shift gears to the desired gear, while saving fuel and ensuring gentle operation of the transmission. These same systems can significantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere.
The developers of the flagship truck model also paid priority to ensuring safety. All basic versions of XF tractors are equipped with the VSC system, which maintains directional stability and prevents folding and overturning of the road train. Options for the XF 105 include ACC adaptive cruise control, which maintains a preset safe interval from the vehicle ahead; forward collision warning system; upgraded AEBS emergency braking system, which automatically stops a multi-ton road train in the event of an emergency on the road. In addition, the truck can be equipped with a video camera system that provides improved visibility from the front and starboard side.
In addition to all of the above, the updated XF105 model received a new cabin with energy-absorbing suspension and structural reinforcements in areas most susceptible to deformation. In the event of a frontal collision, the energy-absorbing suspension automatically moves the driver's cabin rearward, thereby minimizing the consequences of the resulting impact.
interior of the new DAF XF105 2013
The manufacturer offers potential buyers of the DAF XF 105 with different cab options, which differ from each other in internal volume. For long-distance transportation, the most suitable configuration is the Space Cab version, equipped with a comfortable sleeping compartment with two shelves for rest. The ceiling height of this version of the cabin is 1.73 meters. The highest level of comfort is provided by the Suer Space Cab version with a ceiling height increased to 2.1 m. In such a cabin, almost anyone can safely stand up to their full height.

Why does Kleyn collect daf euro 6 (and daf euro 7 from the future!)
Our voice went out: “You are going, we are going!” confirms our passion for cars from 1919. Not just a passion for cars, but a passion for your car. We are reconfigured so that you can collapse forward safely and leave your work comfortably and easily. In our opinion, this completely corresponds to the main DAF rice. They also have water and work in the first place. Therefore, Kleyn Trucks recommends DAF Euro 6, and especially, in the near future, DAF Euro 7.
DAF XF95: The Flying Dutchman
The king of the DAF factory range, the heavy-duty tractor XF95, appeared in the series in the fall of 2002 and, hotly, took second place in the European Truck of the Year 2003 competition. Last year it became a bestseller in several countries, and this year, with its help, the VH-DAF company intends to double sales of Dutch cars in Russia. It's time to get to know the tractor in more detail. It just so happens that in recent history, DAF trucks in our country were introduced later than other brands. The lack of branded service stations and the paucity of information on the brand led to the fact that road carriers preferred (without further ado) to rely on the experience of large companies. Those, in turn, worked with trusted partners for another brand. But in Western Europe the situation is different. The share of DAF heavy trucks, according to 2003 data, is 10.6%. In Holland itself it is even higher – 35%. And transport workers of the Country of Tulips purchase it not only for patriotic reasons. Having the opportunity to choose and compare, they rely on the economic efficiency of equipment and its ability to generate maximum income from transportation. German colleagues of Dutch “truck drivers” complain that they are in more favorable conditions. Filling their fuel tanks with cheaper diesel fuel under the neck, the Dutch pass through Germany without refueling, unload, take on new cargo and return home or to their next destination. And yet they make a profit on the DAF XF95, which has repeatedly proven its profitability in numerous comparative tests, including the famous Arctic Test. Time does not stand still, and now in Russia the popularity of the DAF brand is steadily growing every year. Of course, sales volumes will still seem modest, but let's not forget: 2003 was the first full calendar year of operation of the official importer of DAF Trucks in Russia - the VH-DAF company. So it's not evening yet. Last year, Russian transport workers purchased over 50 units of DAF equipment. The greatest interest in it was shown by Moscow, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl and Tver. Moreover, through the capital representative office of DAF Trucks, several long-haul tractors were sold to Ukraine. And the local carriers know a lot about more than just lard. Practice has shown that Russian carriers most often purchase DAF XF95 with 430 and 480 hp engines for their fleets. Truck tractors with a 530-horsepower engine are purchased much less frequently. The explanation for this is simple: in the European part of the country there are no mountains, and a special power reserve is simply not needed. The modernized 6-cylinder 24-valve turbodiesel with a displacement of 12.6 liters has become 2% more economical than its predecessor. The maintenance frequency has been increased to an interval of 120 thousand km, and this is not the last argument in favor of the new DAF. The most commonly ordered gearbox is a manual 16-speed ServoShift. Recently, 12- and 16-speed AS-Tronic gearboxes with automated gear shifting and joystick control appeared on DAF XF95 tractors. The box is decent, there are no words, but only some auto carriers take it. And this is also a reflection of established stereotypes: Russians are afraid of electronics failures in our difficult operating conditions. Time will tell how justified the fears are. Russian “truck drivers” also liked the sleeping cabins Space Cab and the most comfortable and spacious Super Space Cab. What can I say - last year our transport workers ordered more of the most expensive tractors of the previous DAF 95XF Limited Edition model than the simple series. And there is no need to be surprised: Super Space Cab is one of the most suitable cabins for long periods of driving, and the most spacious among its competitors. Its length is 2,250 mm, internal height is 2,255 mm. In it you can stand up to your full height, change clothes, stretch your legs and “crunch” your tired joints. The choice of air-suspended seats satisfies even the most demanding. The ergonomics of the driver's seat are also at the level of modern requirements: someone sitting behind the wheel of a multi-ton car gets no more tired than someone sitting behind the wheel of a small car. And former Russian freight forwarders who became carriers are ready to confirm this: there are companies that, after initially betting on DAF tractors, 4-5 years later again chose this equipment, only in the form of the latest flagship model. The Dutch company DAF Trucks was founded in 1928. Currently, it is part of the transnational concern PACCAR and produces up to 40 thousand trucks per year. The main production centers are located in the cities of Eindhoven (Holland) and Westerlo (Belgium), where 6.5 thousand employees work. The company also owns a modern assembly plant at the former Leyland plant in the UK.
An important criterion for choosing the DAF XF95 is fuel consumption - one of the lowest among heavy-duty tractors. Economical motors also have low noise levels. In addition, they meet current Euro-3 standards, which means that they have an open path to any EU country. It is also valuable that the network of branded DAF service stations is gradually expanding in Russia. Currently, two of them operate in Moscow, one each in St. Petersburg, Smolensk, Yekaterinburg and Saratov. This year it is planned to open a service station in Nizhny Novgorod. Negotiations are underway with business partners from other cities. The cost of spare parts is at the level of uniform prices for all of Europe, and delivery times range from several hours to several days. For those who cannot wait, spare parts are delivered by express mail. But this happens in exceptional cases, and usually the most popular spare parts are always in the local warehouse. Interestingly, it is currently possible to order parts for thousands of used DAF cars that have been running on the roads of Russia for many years. What makes DAF equipment attractive are the terms of purchase. Most motor carriers lease tractors. Of course, the conditions in each specific case may be different, but the standard ones are: leasing term - 4 years, prepayment - 20% of the cost of the car and 12% per annum in euros. At the same time, the seller supports the factory warranty: 2 years for the entire power line (engine, gearbox, drive axle), 5 years for the painting of the cab. There is a possibility to extend the warranty. Of course, the emergence of Dutch trucks among the most popular foreign-made commercial vehicles in Russia is not a matter of just one year. But the high level of technology, the range of its advantages and the active position of DAF Trucks representatives, expressed, among other things, in participation in regional exhibitions, should do their job. After all, Moscow was not built right away.
