Van with tail lift on ISUZU NQR90LM chassis - full review of the truck

In March of this year, we shipped a van with a tail lift on a chassis ISUZU ELF 9.5 EXTRALONG (ISUZU NQR90L - M)

.

ISUZU NQR90L - M is an extended modification chassis. Its length is 4475 mm.

Overall dimensions of the van (LxWxH, m) - 6.2x2.3x2.4. The van is equipped with a tail lift manufactured by DHollandia with a load capacity of 1000 kg.

The car was purchased by a company that deals with logistics and transports goods throughout the Russian Federation. The buyer is our regular customer and, after putting the cars on line, plans to service them in our company.

ISUZU ELF 9.5 (NQR90): high load capacity in small dimensions

Chassis ISUZU ELF 9.5 (NQR90) is the most load-bearing in the ELF line of the new generation 700P series. With relatively small weight and dimensions, the ISUZU ELF 9.5 (NQR90) has a high load capacity of 6550 kg. The model is available in four modifications (Extralong, Long, Normal and Short).

This car can be safely recommended for purchase to those for whom carrying capacity during transportation both within the city and over long distances is important. At the same time, due to the universal frame, it is possible to install almost any superstructure on the ELF 9.5 chassis.

Maneuverability in heavy traffic on city streets, the ability to transport large loads, flexibility in terms of choice of add-ons and equipment, unpretentiousness and reliability - these are the obvious arguments for purchasing an Isuzu ELF 9.5 truck

Electrical system

The system has a constant voltage of 24 V, the negative terminal of the battery is grounded to ground. The 4.0 kW starter mechanism is housed in the gear motor housing.

What features and technical characteristics the Nissan CABSTAR has can be studied in our review. After reading the following article, you will find out whether it is difficult to find spare parts for the BAW Tonik truck.

And in this review: https://spez-tech.com/tehnika/gruzovie-avto/isuzu/elf-harakteristiki-i-raznovidnosti.html you will find a description of the technical characteristics of the Isuzu Elf.

The 24 V, 60 A alternating current generator unit is connected to an integral regulator and a current rectifier.

Cabin ISUZU ELF 9.5 (NQR90)

ISUZU ELF 700P generation is created by professionals for professionals.

When developing and designing the chassis, Japanese engineers used innovative technologies and modern design solutions.

Serious experience in the global automotive industry plus the carefully thought-out concept of the ISUZU ELF 9.5 truck has significantly improved the comfort and safety of the driver and passengers.

Comfort options

The cubic-shaped cabin has higher aerodynamic performance compared to the previous generation cabin. The extended cabin with doors that open 90 degrees, a step and a convenient handrail has become a spacious mobile office, where every detail is subordinated to the driver's comfort. The cabin offers plenty of storage space: glove compartment, console box, overhead shelf, dash recess, door interior pockets, and behind-the-seat storage bins.

Security technologies

The use of modern computer modeling technologies has made it possible to increase the rigidity of the cabin structure. Reinforced doors and a frame of increased rigidity ensure the integrity of the cabin, forming a protective cocoon, which reduces injuries in the event of an accident.

In addition, the large glass area of the cabin with large panoramic glass, as well as large rear-view mirrors, provide the driver with excellent visibility in all directions.

Other cab features

The cabin is single-row, 3-seater (without berth). If necessary, you can use the middle passenger seat as a table. Models with extended equipment have air conditioning, electric windows, and central locking.

Mini drive

As for driving impressions, you should understand that during a short test drive, albeit with a loaded car, it was naturally difficult to understand all the nuances. Nevertheless, several characteristic points emerged very clearly.

Firstly, in pursuit of reducing CO2 emissions, the Japanese repeated the mistake that was very clearly evident among the Germans - they tried to make a 5-liter engine out of a 3-liter engine based on power characteristics. The idea is, of course, a good one, and to its credit, all these improvements in “turbo efficiency, injection pressure and exhaust gas recirculation coefficient” ultimately allow the NQR90 to move quite confidently with a load in space. It’s just that in order to maintain the flow speed, you have to constantly move the gearbox lever and keep the needle in the mid-speed zone. Otherwise, the car stubbornly does not want to drive, as if denying the presence of low revs in principle. The current generation of drivers, accustomed to the fact that a diesel engine will pull through from scratch, still have to overcome this psychological barrier and realize that now they must drive a truck, just like their gasoline passenger car - higher revs and forward!

Secondly, during the test it was very clear what a “correct” cabin for a delivery truck means. The journalistic fraternity, having spent a couple of tens of minutes behind the wheel, did not even pay attention to it, but professional truck drivers immediately appreciated the low seating position. Moreover, for them it turned out to be a “minus”: you sit low, the windows are huge, and in the mirrors you are in a truck - it’s scary... But to the question “What about getting in and out?” the answer was unequivocal: “Great!” So in this regard, the Japanese, as always, set their priorities correctly.

And to make it less scary, the car uses an open-type cross member for the front part of the frame, thanks to which it became possible to control deformations in the event of an accident. In addition, reinforcement of the doors, cab frame and the use of a crash column, coupled with changes in its attachment to the frame, led to significant improvements in crash energy absorption characteristics. In addition, airbags are offered as an option for both the driver and passengers.

Thirdly, the Japanese have further improved visibility. Finally, approaching mirrors on delivery trucks is no longer an afterthought. A pair of beautiful lenses on both sides is something that should have been done a long time ago. In addition, the distance between the mirrors and the pillar has now been increased, and the driver can finally safely control the stern angle. Bravo, Isuzu!

Currently, the ISUZU dealer network includes 38 centers in various regions of Russia. So, no particular difficulties with maintenance are expected even in light of the rather modest declared service interval for the Isuzu NQR90, which is 15,000 km. The car warranty is 2 years or 100,000 km.

The cost of the NQR90 chassis in the showrooms of official dealers of the Japanese brand starts from 1,741,000 rubles.

The car is easy to drive, it is quite maneuverable, economical, and also not very difficult to repair.

All this makes it possible to profitably use it on intra-city routes, for the needs of private land ownership, and when running a farm.

The five-ton load capacity and reliability make regular transportation routes between facilities using logistics schemes quite profitable.

The Isuzu Forward, like any other truck, can be used as a base for installing special equipment. And here you can find out the technical characteristics of the Baw Fenix 1044.

The main features of the car are the simplicity of the design and the following factors:

  1. Layout. The cabover cab is located above the engine. This design increases the maneuverability of the truck, increases the size of the cargo platform, reduces the centerline parameter, and improves visibility from the cabin.
  2. Accounting for road conditions in Russia. Robust riveted ladder frame, reinforced suspension, corrosion-protected cabin, additional heated fuel filter, reliable engine starting at sub-zero temperatures.
  3. Operational safety and comfortable operation.
    Reinforced with steel inserts, heated and ventilated cabin.

    Access to the driver's workplace is facilitated by support handles and a corrugated platform.

Features of Isuzu NPR75 trucks

By agreement with the customer, the Isuzu NPR75 universal chassis is immediately equipped with the necessary equipment. The most popular on the market are a cargo, isothermal or manufactured goods van, a crane-manipulator on an on-board platform, and a tow truck. Also, hydraulic lifts, tank trucks, vacuum trucks, garbage trucks and dump trucks are installed on this chassis.

Like its “younger” comrades, the full-size Elf 7.5 chassis is “tailored” mainly for maneuvering in dense city traffic, with constant parking for loading and unloading in limited space. However, these vehicles are also well suited for not too long intercity routes – short-haul freight transportation.

The NPR 75 is available in four wheelbase lengths: short, standard, long and extra long. In all presented options, the overall length of the superstructure on the chassis is provided: 5.2 meters for the short base, 6.1 meters for the standard one and from 6.5 to 7.4 meters for the extended versions.

Isuzu NPR75 cars were developed in full compliance with current European quality standards and have additional measures to prepare for the domestic realities of roads.

The diesel engines of these machines were constantly modernized during the production process to comply with the latest environmental classes, and currently meet Euro-5 standards. For this purpose, EGR exhaust gas recirculation and a DOC catalytic converter were used in the injection system. They provide a fairly high level of environmental friendliness of the motor.

Izuzu Motors began using AdBlue and diesel particulate filters (DPF) in its trucks. Therefore, NPR 75 owners will not need to perform additional maintenance on their truck and periodically replace used filters. Accordingly, there is no need to independently disable the use of the AdBlue reagent.

Reviews of Isuzu NPR75 trucks

The manufacturer provides a warranty for the NPR75 car in the amount of three years or two hundred thousand kilometers. The service interval is twenty thousand kilometers. But those who work on refrigerators try to change the oil more often - every 10 thousand kilometers.

The owners characterize the truck on the positive side - as a vehicle that works stably with heavy loads in everyday life and will never let you down. However, it copes with a maximum load of five tons - it doesn’t pull particularly well, mainly on inclines.

Actual diesel fuel consumption indicators, traditionally, differ from those indicated by the manufacturer in the performance characteristics. When loaded, you won’t be able to spend less than 16 liters of fuel per 100 km; a more realistic figure is still closer to twenty liters per hundred kilometers. The vehicle tends to gradually “eat up” its oil, but dealers often warn the client about this property when selling a new truck.

This engine is very picky about the quality of diesel fuel; the turbine and heat exchanger can become clogged with soot quite quickly.

An employee of one of the large automobile fleets, whose fleet includes many Isuzu NPR75 models, notes that they are indeed very unpretentious and reliable in operation, but are not at all as problem-free as the sellers describe. So, after driving only about twenty thousand kilometers, the clutch on one car began to slip, and on the other the clutch began to howl. On another NPR75 car, the play in the steering wheel began to noticeably increase, gears were not shifted clearly, and when reversing, a slight but obvious vibration appeared. The drum-type brakes are rather weak for this car, fortunately there is also a mountain brake in the design, which additionally helps. This employee also confirms the words of many other owners and drivers that the car carries a full load of five tons with difficulty, “with strain.”

There are no complaints about the truck’s quality of travel when traveling – it holds the road well, does not “throw”, and there is no need to “catch” it periodically. Smooth ride – five points. The cabin of the car is warm, heats up quickly and then keeps the heat well. But the comfort in the driver's seat can be better. In the Isuzu NPR75 it sits, one might say, directly “on the wheel”. Due to the short spring, when working for a long time, you feel like you are sitting on a stool, and you feel the strain on your back while driving on bumpy roads.

The car is only good for driving on asphalt of good or, in any case, acceptable quality. The low ground clearance and low-mounted bumper indicate that this is a typical “city dweller.” Factory tires are of low quality and wear out very quickly, almost everyone talks about this. The cost of spare parts and consumables for Isuzu is quite impressive.

Hydraulic characteristics of the tail lift DH-LM.10

  • 2 lifting cylinders to ensure maximum lateral stability of the platform during operation; 2 rotary cylinders to change the angle of inclination with a spring supporting the opening of the platform;
  • electric safety valves (hydraulic locks) are installed on all cylinders;
  • manual emergency control on all electric valves;
  • cylinder piston rods are made of chrome-plated stainless steel (INOX);
  • The compact power unit is housed in a noise-absorbing housing.

Cabin and platform equipment

The cabin is an all-metal welded structure, reinforced with steel inserts. Fully raised on torsion bar suspension. Comfort during driving is created by a hard plastic interior with three chairs, the middle seat transforms into a table.

There is a tool box behind the driver's seat. Shelves and pockets distributed throughout the cabin allow you to place things and documents needed on the road.

Preparations have been made at the factory for the installation of additional equipment (car radio, navigator, control and communication equipment). Wiring has been laid, power and switching connectors have been installed.

The cargo platform is a lattice frame made of metal channels with a plywood floor.

The sides are metal, galvanized, folding.
