Description of the Vogele Super 1600-2 asphalt paver and its technical characteristics

Special road equipment allows you to perform various tasks related to the design of the roadway in accordance with GOST standards. The Vogele Super 1600 2 asphalt paver will provide invaluable assistance in this. The brand has almost 150 years of history. The company was first founded in 1863. Initially, the manufacturer produced equipment intended for the construction of railway tracks. It took almost 70 years for the company's management to understand that the future promising growth of the enterprise would be in the production of road equipment. At that time, the world began to actively build roads where asphalt pavement was a priority in many respects. In 1938, the first road paver entered the market. In 1996, the brand became the property of the WIRTGEN Group (Germany), which began producing equipment with a diesel-electric operating principle of an asphalt paver, which made it possible to “capture” the width of the road surface up to 16 meters.

DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE

The Vogele Super 1600 2 represents the second generation of the popular Vogele line of asphalt pavers, which came onto the market in 1836.
Initially, the manufacturer was engaged in equipment for the operation and construction of railway tracks, but at the beginning of the last century, the direction of activity was revised. The company began producing trailed and self-propelled road paving machines. Since then, the brand has been consistently represented in the segment of special equipment used for styling. German quality and rich experience rightfully make Vogele equipment one of the most reliable and in demand. The Vogel Super 1600 2 family was introduced in 2006, becoming an improved variation of the Vogel Super 1600. In 2014, production of the second generation ended. The key difference of the new product was versatility. The model was intended to perform operations on laying the canvas not only on highways and multi-lane roads, but also on local areas, sidewalks, squares and park paths. At the same time, the main disadvantage of the machine was its high cost. For small organizations performing road construction work, purchasing a Vogele Super 1600 2 did not seem like a good decision due to the small volume of operations. With constant loading, the asphalt paver quickly paid for itself.

Modifications

The asphalt paver has several generations:

  • Vogele Super 1600-1 was put into production in 2003, the latest model was released in 2007.
  • The Vogel 1600-2 was first released in 2006; after its release, production of the previous generation of machines ceased. Production of this model was stopped in 2014.
  • The Vogele Super 1600-3 asphalt paver has become a modern successor to previous generations of construction equipment. Currently being released.

  • Super – the largest (13 types of asphalt paving machines), which is the basic one;
  • Vision – four models of asphalt pavers with increased productivity.

Crawler propulsion unit “Vogel”

A larger number of models of Vogel asphalt pavers have a tracked propulsion system , this has happened historically. But this does not mean that the company produces only monsters capable of operating on federal highways. It also has super-compact vehicles that can be deployed in city yards and even inside warehouses or hangars.

Wheeled vehicles are more maneuverable and lighter, but this does not affect their performance and the final quality of the coating. Their marking is distinguished by the presence of the number “3” in the index, and the technical characteristics are in many ways similar to tracked models. They differ from them, perhaps, in weight. And even then for the better.

Compare tracked and wheeled vehicles, using loaders as an example.

Vogel asphalt pavers are equipped with both “native” German engines Deutz and Cummins (a North American brand, partly produced in China), as well as Perkins, a manufacturer from the UK with branches in the USA, Japan, Brazil, and China.

These road cars occupy an average price niche. This is definitely not a budget equipment, but it’s also impossible to say that their prices are sky-high. This is especially true for equipment with a well-developed service life. For example, for a Vogele 1803-2 with an output of more than 10 thousand engine hours, they ask for one million seven hundred thousand rubles. And an almost new tracked 1600-2 costs from 10 million rubles.

DEVICE

Vogele Super 1600 2 has a classic design with a tracked undercarriage. The trolleys are typically controlled by individual hydraulic drives using a motor-wheel with sprockets. The operator can switch transport and work modes directly from the cab. The caterpillar track is made up of tracks with rubber shoes. Design features allow the asphalt paver to work on terrain with large departure and elevation angles and independently drive onto the platform. A standard low-loader trawl can be used to transport equipment. Braking is carried out using disc brakes built into the motor wheels. This system and the parking brake are maintenance-free and do not require additional settings.

Chassis characteristics:

  • contact length of the caterpillar part with the surface – 2830 mm;
  • track width – 305 mm.

The power drive of the Vogel Super 1600 2 is fully hydraulic and is complemented by a continuously variable torque control function. The diesel unit and the gearbox of the pumping group act together, transmitting force to the shafts of the hydraulic pumps of the elements: belt feeders, augers, timber device, caterpillar bogies and others.

Maneuvering the asphalt paver is done by changing the track speed settings.

The following types of screed plates are used as a working body:

  • AB 500TV;
  • AB 600TV.

The plate width is adjusted using a hydraulic drive. Additionally, extenders are installed on the stove. The complete set of working parts is different (vibrating beam for compacting the mixture, vibration, heating, strips for pressing). The most accurate leveling is ensured by the Nivelltronic Plus leveling system.

To receive the mixture, a hopper with sides tilted inward by means of hydraulic cylinders is used. This ensures complete material consumption. The belt feeder has one hydraulic drive on each side. Its speed is regulated by an electrical circuit in manual mode, and according to sensor signals - in automatic mode. The auger device has stepless manual control and replaceable blades.

Characteristics of the material feeding system:

  • Hopper capacity – 13000 kg;
  • overall width – 3265 mm;
  • number of feeders – 2;
  • feeder speed – up to 25 m/min;
  • number of augers – 2;
  • screw diameter – 400 mm.

The Vogele Super 1600 2 cab is equipped with a fiberglass roof canopy mounted on metal racks. The racks are covered with special curtain curtains. For full control of operations, the operator's and driver's seats can be moved laterally beyond the control platform. The control unit, from which all actuators are controlled, can also be moved at will in a given direction. Control data and information on the elements of the asphalt paver are displayed on the operating display. There is a general switch in the cabin that allows you to stop all mechanisms, functions and devices of the equipment. When switching on, no additional adjustments are required; the parameters are restored to the state before switching off.

Actuator

The power drive of the Vogel 1600 asphalt paver is installed of a hydrostatic type with smooth torque switching. The gearbox is designed to transmit rotational force to the shafts of hydraulic pumps. The work includes:

  • hydraulic drive of optional slats, vibrating beams, plates, side walls of the bunker;
  • node of the main organ;
  • main body position regulator;
  • screw distributor;
  • belt feeders.

Vogele – keeping up with progress

The historical homeland of this company is the city of Mannheim, located at the confluence of the Neckar River and the Rhine. And its founder is Joseph Vogele. The business began in 1836 , but at that time the company was engaged in the production of mechanisms that ensure the operation of railways - switches, semaphores, gas stations.

In 1929, the business was reoriented to the production of machines for road construction. The first models were towed, and the road surface they created was gravel.

The first self-propelled pavers appeared nine years later, and real asphalt pavers appeared in the fiftieth year of the last century. They had a hopper for hot mix asphalt and screw conveyors to convey it.

The main technological breakthrough occurred in 1960, when Vogel asphalt pavers introduced a heated compaction roller and began to use a diesel-hydraulic drive. At the same time, wheeled models of these road machines appeared, as well as super-powerful asphalt pavers, capable of covering a strip 12.5 meters wide with a coating thickness of 30 cm in one pass.

In 1980, the company developed its own technology for compacting and leveling the laid road surface . Its copyright holder is still Vogele, which is why these pavers have a number of exclusive performance characteristics.

Since 1996, the company has been part of the WIRTGEN Group, but has not changed its specialization. Its pavers are produced under the same brand and are still exemplary representatives of road technology.
