Mercedes Sprinter 2022: interior photos and new facts

Those who install sliding wardrobes at home do not need to explain how important it is to place a maximum of things in a minimum area. At the same time, every little thing must be accessible at any time. One of the first companies in the world to produce commercial vehicles, specialists from Mercedes-Benz learned this. Then the first Mercedes-Benz Sprinter went into production. This was in 1995, and the model replaced the legendary MV T1.

Presentation of Mercedes Sprinter 2022

Interest in modification has been fueled for quite some time. Spy photos that appeared online before the official presentation by the manufacturer seriously intrigued future potential buyers. The presentation of the model took place on February 6, 2022. The new car was developed from scratch. All truck systems have undergone modernization, and the appearance also has not remained unchanged.

The buyer is offered a huge variety of different options for the Mercedes Sprinter 2023, differing in the type of drive, gearbox and intended purpose of the body. The line has everything: from a passenger version (van or shuttle bus) to a refrigerator and a motor home.

Mercedes Sprinter 2023: photo description

The appearance of the car has become more harmonious. As a result of adding new touches, the Mercedes design turned out to be “muscular” and aggressive. The wide false radiator grille is flanked by narrowed headlights, available in LED versions (as an option). The back and sides have not changed - except that the stampings on the cargo compartment doors have disappeared, plus LED optics have appeared at the rear.

The new Sprinter offers eight body styles. First of all, this is a passenger bus, van, camper, and a “bare” chassis for installing a variety of equipment. The game with the cargo and passenger contents of the cabin will be entertaining for lovers of active recreation.

The developers provide the opportunity to choose equipment for transporting motorcycles and other equipment. All these variations are available in three wheelbase sizes, as well as in four overall vehicle lengths. The useful cargo volume exceeds that of its predecessor and is increased to a record 17 cubic meters (for the cargo version).

The choice of body height has also become possible. The height of the loading platform has become lower by 8 cm. The platform itself can be lined with several types of materials: wood, plastic or metal.

Maintenance and regulations for its implementation

When purchasing a used Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, you should pay attention to the operation of the driveshaft. Despite the fact that needle bearings have a huge resource and do not require special maintenance, their service life does not exceed 80 thousand km. If you miss this moment, you can pay either for the entire driveshaft, or fork out for its restoration, and this is not a cheap pleasure. Restoration and repair of the Sprinter driveshaft can cost from 22 thousand rubles and more, depending on the degree of damage and wear.

To avoid problems when operating the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, you just need to adhere to simple factory regulations for maintenance and replacement of consumables:

  • every 15,000 km, change the engine oil and filter, change the brake fluid;
  • every two years, in addition to the above-mentioned routine maintenance, clean or change the air filter, check the wear of the brake pads;
  • Every 60 thousand, change the automatic transmission oil, transmission filter and fuel filter, inspect the condition of the driveshaft and clutch.

Despite the cabin with a high level of comfort, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter cargo van is a full-fledged commercial vehicle with a long service life, reliable engines, a strong chassis and low operating costs. In the event that the factory regulations for maintenance and replacement of consumables are followed.

Sprinter 2022: salon

Like the body, the interior depends on the selected configuration. In the most budget version of mb you can see seats with textile upholstery and a standard steering wheel. The front panel is made of gray plastic, with large ventilation deflectors and a spacious glove compartment. The shelf in the upper part of the cabin is open, there is no audio system or air conditioning.

The next level of interior configuration is made for a more demanding consumer. A simple audio system and additional deflectors are already available here. The steering wheel is equipped with on-board computer control buttons. The shelves in this configuration are closed with lids. In addition to commercial cargo transportation, the new generation sprinter can serve as a comfortable passenger bus with a capacity of 20 people, for which the company offers a wider range of improvements. The list includes a steering wheel with functional controls, an on-board computer screen, and two or three-zone climate control.

The driver's seat is equipped with a full range of electrical adjustments, and the front seats are heated. The kit also includes MBUX multimedia with color display. An optional rear-view or all-round camera with output to the mirror, as well as adaptive cruise control, are available.

Mercedes Sprinter 2022: interior photos and new facts

The new Mercedes-Benz Sprinter will be presented in February next year. The closer the premiere, the more information appears about the newcomer. Last time, based on the sketch shown, we got a general idea of his appearance. And now we are ready to share with you photos of the interior of the cabin of the new van.

This is what the new Sprinter will look like

In their approach to designing interior cabin shapes for large vans, designers are increasingly looking to make the interior "more car-like". It is on this principle that the interior decoration of cars such as the Ford Transit or Volkswagen Crafter is created. Now they will be joined by the new Sprinter.

The front panel now resembles that of Mercedes passenger cars of the latest generations. There are round air vents, a beautiful three-spoke steering wheel, and an instrument panel with a large color display. Moreover, judging by the photo, in expensive trim levels for the Sprinter, electric seat adjustment with memory for several positions will be available - the control buttons, traditionally for Mercedes, will be located on the doors.

Three-spoke steering wheel - like the brand's passenger models

The central place on the panel is occupied by a large touch display. It will be possible to display a huge amount of various data on it. In addition, it is through it that the driver will be able to access the Internet. And if the van is connected to a promising fleet management system for such vehicles, then the screen will display the addresses to which various goods need to be delivered.

The creators of the interior also took care of places for various small items in the cabin. There are two pockets under the central screen, and a long shelf in front of the passenger seat. Of course, there are pockets in the doors too.

Touch screen - the main “control panel” of electronic systems

Information has also emerged about the different versions that the new van will receive. Thus, it is stated that it will meet the needs of a wide variety of customers, offering extensive customization options for specific tasks. And this indirectly confirms our assumption that the new van will have three types of drive, just like the new Crafter. Moreover, it is known for sure that the Sprinter will have versions with a gross weight of 5.5 tons.

Batteries for the electric version of the new Sprinter

A little more specifics now with the electric version of the Sprinter. It will be the company's second all-electric LCV, following the recently unveiled E-Vito. It is known that the batteries will be located under the bottom, without their presence reducing the useful volume of the body. The estimated range of an electric van on one charge should be in the range from 150 to 200 km. The E-Sprinter will hit the production line in 2019, and it will be possible to order it in the second half of next year.

2022 Mercedes Sprinter: engine lineup

The company offers a large selection of power units for all three types of drive. The new Mercedes will be available with a 2.1 liter diesel engine. but with different powers. As standard, the minibus received a 6-speed manual transmission, and more expensive variations are equipped with a new 9-speed automatic, which first appeared on a car of this class.

In the future, Mercedes Benz may receive an electric drive or a three-liter diesel engine.

Line of motors, load capacity and modifications

The optics now have LED turn indicators, and the front grille even references the company's passenger models; it resembles them in shape and grille architecture. But they love this car not so much for its appearance as for its versatility and functionality. The new Sprinter can be purchased in several options based on the size of the center distance, the volume of the cargo compartment and the height of the roof. Mercedes shows the main configurations and dimensions in the diagram.

One of the most popular and sought-after engines for the Sprinter remains the time-tested, simple and reliable four-cylinder turbodiesel with intercooler. Engine power is 150 horsepower, and a torque of 330 Nm can be available from 1200 to 2450 rpm. This is not the only motor in the line. Since March 2009, a more powerful 2.1-liter engine with 160 horsepower has been available. The motor has a good torque of 360 Nm, which is available from 1400 rpm.

Mercedes Sprinter 2022: technical specifications

The technical aspect depends on the selected configuration. The buyer will also be able to choose the type of suspension. These will be steel springs, air springs or fiberglass springs. Below are the main parameters of the new product.

Drive system and suspension. Features of operation

Some vans are equipped with 6-cylinder V-shaped engines with a cylinder camber angle of 72 degrees. The top-end diesel has three liters of volume from which engineers removed 190 horsepower. This engine produces 440 Nm of torque. On all-wheel drive versions of the car you can sometimes find gasoline engines. The most powerful of them is a six-cylinder V-shaped engine with 258 horsepower. All engines can be operated with either a five-speed manual, a 7-speed manual transmission, or an automatic transmission.

Almost all engines are perfectly adapted to our conditions and, with good care, can easily cover up to 500 thousand km between overhauls. However, turbines do not always withstand our oils and fuel; sometimes they have to be repaired at a mileage of about 120-130 thousand. As a rule, the culprit is poor oil and improper operation of the turbo engine. If you follow the manufacturer's recommendations and let the engine idle for about 2 minutes before turning it off, the turbine will not cause breakdowns for the entire service life of the engine.

The new Sprinter features the HighBeam Assist function. This system helps the driver switch the high beam in the presence of oncoming vehicles. The system operates using sensors integrated into the windshield. If the Sprinter's speed is above 40 km/h, the system automatically switches the high beam to low beam, and as soon as the oncoming car leaves the camera's field of view, the high beam turns on again.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter: Comfort of a three-pointed star

New economic realities require a fundamentally new approach to building a business. Luxury, beauty, prestige and other signs of excessive wealth are put aside. Considering these trends, we turned our attention to... Mercedes! Yes, yes, it is precisely this sign of high society of the last two decades in Russia that has become optimal today for profitable urban and intercity transportation. More precisely, not quite. PKF Luidor made him this way. How? – our correspondent looked into it.

Everyone knows that Mercedes-Benz minibuses are not supplied to Russia, only vans. And from these the PKF Luidor company produces a full-fledged 19-seater bus. We saw how this happens and what happens directly in the factory workshop, where there were 3 cars of varying degrees of preparation. Volkswagen Crafter - just arrived at the workshop (company), Mercedes-Benz Sprinter - in work and another Sprinter - ready for our test. It’s worth making a reservation here - a distinctive feature of the Luidor buses is that the 4th series Sprinters, which are currently produced in Argentina, are used for conversion.

“Yes, they are not as elegant as 5-series cars,” comments Sergei, a designer for the conversion of PKF Luidor cars, “but their cost is noticeably lower, despite the fact that there is simply no difference in reliability and driving performance.” Indeed, the main task of a city bus is not to flaunt the biodesign of front optics, but to transport people reliably and safely, while bringing a stable income to the owner. But even the Sprinter 4 Series, equipped with panoramic windows, in the city traffic of GAZelles and PAZs, looks like a comfortable white liner with the famous three-pointed star on the radiator grille. “Producing cars with such a star is a big responsibility. Mercedes values its reputation very much,” Sergey continues the conversation, “working with them always means strict and stringent quality control at all stages of car conversion. Before installing any new equipment, training and master classes are conducted from manufacturing companies.”

We begin the inspection. First of all, the passenger compartment. 17 seats are arranged in single and double rows (2 more passenger seats are located near the driver, for a total of 19). The passage between them is not impressive in size, but if you remember its purpose, everything becomes clear. This model is not intended for standing. And the existing passage is sufficient for comfortable and quick boarding/disembarking of passengers. The Sprinter's 1820mm high ceilings allow you to move around the cabin at full height, holding on to the handrails; the reason for this is also the flat floor, without protrusions or slopes.

The flooring material is hard and surprisingly non-slippery, so you can stand firmly on it even in winter, when all the snow and mud from the streets ends up on the floor of the bus. The three front seats in the passenger compartment have seat belts, the rest are secured by the seats in front. If we talk about the size, the double seats will probably be a little cramped for two fat people, but for city trips it’s quite acceptable. “For intercity passenger transportation, we are releasing a tourist model with more comfortable passenger seats that have adjustable backrests and seat belts,” Sergei dispelled my doubts, “the finishing is domestic, and of very high quality, the same is used in the seats of some modifications of the Ford Focus.” The chairs are mounted on guides located on the floor and side wall. In this way, it is possible to provide optimal legroom for passengers. At the same time, the rear seats can be easily removed, forming a spacious luggage compartment.

Two vents in the panoramic windows look clearly insufficient for comfortable idling in hot summer traffic jams; they are complemented by a hatch, which is also necessary as an emergency exit, and a forced cabin ventilation system (FVU), which is a fan in the ceiling of the passenger part of the cabin. Separately, I would like to note the heating system in Sprinters from PKF Luidor: in addition to the standard dependent heater, an additional autonomous heater Eberschpesher or Webasto (2 kW) is installed in the cabin. An indispensable attribute from Mercedes is thermal, noise and vibration insulation of the ceiling, doors and walls, and the driver is separated from the rest of the cabin by a small protective panel. The interior itself is decorated with aluminum composite panels made in Europe, covered with fabric. The door is spacious and easy to open with one hand. Two people can exit through it without difficulty. “With regular maintenance, the service life of the door is practically unlimited; we can also install an automatic drive system designed specifically for this vehicle.” – explains Sergei. The rear door is hinged and has locks, which is very convenient in narrow city streets.

We move on to the “driver’s” part of the cabin. It's spacious. The driver's seat has a multi-level adjustment system. Immediately behind it there is a fire extinguisher - this is the second one, but we’ll talk about that later. The instrument panel is spartanly simple and clear, and the controls, coupled with heater switches, ABS, and other additional features, are more reminiscent of the cabin of an SUV than a regular bus.

There are no airbags; to install them, one seat in the front would have to be removed, and this is very undesirable for a city bus. However, the PKF Luidor company can rebuild the bus completely according to the customer’s wishes. “Leather seats, air conditioning, TV, refrigerator, we can even install a jacuzzi,” the conversion designer laughs, but at the same time seriously adds, “while maintaining the factory warranty on the chassis, which is 2 years without mileage limitation.” Already leaving the factory premises, Sergei told us that recently social buses with the ability to transport people in wheelchairs have become in demand. Luidor responded to this need and similar modifications are already being implemented by the company.

We were able to fully verify the versatility of the Sprinter when we went for a test drive together with Luidor employees. The car is truly suitable not only for city minibuses, but also as a corporate carrier or mobile office, symbolizing the reliability and respectability of the company using it.

The first thing you feel on the track is the suspension. It’s still not from the bus, but from the van. Up to 70 km/h, the passenger will not feel any inconvenience, but at higher speeds you can relax a little in a chair with a vibration massager. The reason for this is also the 2.2-liter turbodiesel, with a power of 110 hp, made in Germany, which, like all diesel engines, likes to give out its share of vibration. Of course, there is no need to compare the reliability of this engine with domestic ones; let’s talk about consumption: when driving along the highway at a speed of about 140 km/h, fuel will be consumed at a rate of 18 l/100 km. But how relevant are these figures if any passenger vehicle can move no faster than 70 km/h, and already at this speed the consumption will drop to 11-12 l/100 km, and these are not the factory 8-9 l, but real ones, shown during tests in Russia. The gearbox is manual, five-speed.

PKF Luidor equips its buses with everything necessary to pass the Technical Inspection at the traffic police. There are fire extinguishers (one behind the driver, the other at the rear door), a first aid kit in the niche of the driver’s door, emergency hammers, and even stickers in the cabin - all this is already included in the price of the car, which is “base” 1,650,000 rubles . To undergo regular maintenance, and preferably every 20 thousand km, the owner will need to contact the showroom of an official Mercedes-Benz dealer.

Already on the way back, Sergei told us about another, in our opinion, a very powerful argument in favor of Mercedes from PKF Luidor. The fact is that the Sprinter chassis, which serves as the basis for buses, was produced and brought to Russia back in 2008, when customs duties were much lower. Stored in ideal conditions for them in factory parking lots, they are undergoing conversion now and the title will show the year of manufacture - 2009. But after simple calculations, we get the savings that the buyer at PKF Luidor will have - about 20% of the total cost of the bus (!! !), which for a price of more than one and a half million is a very significant amount. The company manager explained to us that there were only about five hundred of these cars left in the warehouse. We leave all the details of these calculations and arguments to the company’s employees, who will always be happy to advise you at the address: st. Larina, 18 or tel. (831) 2-799-699.

We thank the PKF Luidor company for providing a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 411CDI for a test drive and for assistance in preparing the material.
