The principle of operation of the KamAZ brake

To understand what the brake system of KamAZ 65115 and other modifications is, let’s consider the functioning of the stopping unit. The part is equipped with all car wheels (43118, 43114, etc.). The mechanism has a similar operating principle, regardless of the configuration.

KamAZ braking mechanism:

The braking mechanism is mounted and assembled on a caliper (2), the end part is flat in shape with holes for the wheel mounting bolts. Two brake mechanisms (7) with a special material that improves braking (9) are fixed with eccentrics (1). A form of brake material with a specific contour that promotes uniform abrasion. The pins correctly position the brake devices in relation to the drum, which is secured to the hub with five bolts.

Shifting the pads through the fist (12) initiates braking. The parts press on the drum, which brakes the wheel. Roller mechanism (13), transmission link from the fist to the pads. The task of the product is to eliminate the friction force and make braking effective. Spring mechanisms (8), four in number, return the parts to their original position. The riving fist (12) rotates in the holder (10). The holder secures the camera. Closer to the end of the shaft, an adjustment lever (14) with a transmission mechanism is attached. The purpose of the casing is to prevent foreign bodies from entering the product.

KamAZ adjustment lever:

The process of wear of parts due to braking is inevitable. To minimize the distance from the shoe to the drum, an adjustment mechanism is provided. The rod is placed in a steel casing (6) with a fitting (7). A wheel with a worm mechanism and teeth (3), located in the housing, has mounting holes attached to the fist and worm (5) with a pressed rod (11). The elastic element (9), is attached with an emphasis to the bolt-clamp (8), holds the round element (10) on the rod (11) in the worm groove, and locks its axis. A plug (1) is fixed to the frame (6) of the rod, holding the disk with teeth.

Axial rotation provokes a worm movement, which causes the disk (3) to rotate, and at the same time the unlocking fist. The fist presses the brake elements, minimizing the distance from the shoe to the drum. Braking initiates rotation of the lever by the brake chamber rod. Before adjusting the brakes on a KamAZ, the locking bolt (8) is unscrewed and, at the end of the process, fixed tightly.

The circuit requiring the supply of air under pressure contains: a pressure increase device (9), a pressure reducer (11), a protective element (12), a cylinder (20). From the circuit, pressurized air is transported in the required dose to users. The air damping drive is divided into independent circuits, protected among themselves by means of valves. Air braking drive with five circuits: divided by double and triple regulator.

The first circuit contains: a regulator (17), a cylinder (24) with a means of measuring pressure drops (18), a pressure measuring device with two arrows (5), a lower sector of the brake valve (16), a device for opening and closing the 7th terminal (C); pressure limiting devices 8; cameras 1 (2 pieces); tractor nose wheelbase brakes, pipes.

The second circuit of the aft wheelbase contains: a regulator (17), a cylinder (22) with a valve (19) and a means for measuring pressure reduction (18), means for measuring pressure with two arrows (5), the upper part of the brake valve with two sections (16) , control bypass device (D), damping force regulator, automatic (30), cameras (26) in the amount of four pieces.

The third circuit of the reserve and stopping brake contains: a regulator (13), a cylinder (25) with a valve (19) and a pressure reduction measuring device (18), two valves (7), a control terminal (B and E). Manual brake valve (2), valve (29,32), accumulator (28), pressure reduction control device (27), valve (31,35,34), isolation valve (37), heads (38, 39), device alarm (33).

The peculiarity of the sensor (33) is integrated into the KamAZ brake system circuit so that it turns on warning lights both when using the stopping brake and when operating the main brake.

The fourth circuit does not contain a cylinder and consists of: a regulator (13), an air-powered valve (4), a chamber of a mechanical regulator of the flow area (23), a chamber for the drive of the stupor rod of the power unit (10), and a measuring instrument (14). The fourth circuit supplies air under pressure to other users: air signal, clutch force converter, etc.

The fifth emergency release circuit without a cylinder and execution elements. Consists of: regulator (17), valve (4), regulator (32).

Machines from the Kama manufacturer (53215, etc.) in the section of the pressure increasing device - pressure regulator require the installation of a moisture separator. Air system

The principle of operation and design of the air system of this unit:

  4. The drive itself consists of autonomous circuits, which are separated from each other by means of safety valves. Each of them acts separately.
  5. From the circuits, the compressed air flow is directed directly to the pneumatic signal, the pneumatic hydraulic booster of the clutch system and to the gearbox drives.
  6. The drives are supplied with air through a condensation-type receiver; the circuits do not have a warning lamp for a drop in pressure level.

Brake system

This KamAZ model has 4 brake systems:

  1. Working. It controls the braking of the vehicle while driving. It is equipped with a double-circuit pneumatic drive. This type of drive affects the front and rear wheels of the cart. The main components are the pads and the drum.
  2. Spare. Such a system is necessary to stop transport or slow down movement in the event of various types of malfunctions and malfunctions in the operation of the main braking mechanism. It is combined with a parking system and consists of four accumulator springs, air cylinders, protective, bypass and accelerator valves, a brake valve, hoses and wires.
  3. Parking lot. It is used to control the brakes on all wheels of the unit. Under the influence of air flow, the power springs of the batteries are in a compressed state, but when air enters the cylinders, the braking mechanism of all wheels is activated.

External and internal lighting is necessary to ensure a high level of safety for vehicle movement, as well as to visualize the working panel, which is located inside the truck.

The wiring diagram includes the following elements:

  • main lights;
  • headlights with anti-fog properties;

  • rear lights;
  • a lamp that is located under the hood of the truck;
  • lampshades designed to illuminate the driver's glove compartment;
  • lampshades installed in the cabin;
  • sockets with dashboard lighting lamps.

Partial adjustment of the KamAZ brake

Partial adjustment of the brakes on KamAZ is carried out as necessary. The purpose of the adjustments is to achieve the desired distance from the surface of the lining to the drum.

The primary sign signaling the time to adjust the settings of KamAZ mechanisms is the size of the outgoing levers of the brake chambers. The value considered to be the norm for pressure on the foot lever is 20 millimeters.

The desired size is set using the worm of the adjustment lever. Manipulations - on a cold mechanism, the stop brake is moved to the “off” position, the fixing bolt is unscrewed 2-3 turns, then tightened again. The output value of the chamber rods on the wheel sets is set the same, otherwise an unequal force will occur during braking.

Before applying the brakes on a KamAZ, the device is dismantled and rebuilt. Worn parts are replaced. Using eyeliner ensures correct installation of the block in relation to the drum. The adjustment is performed using the eccentric rods of the adjustment lever.

The procedure is performed when the distance from the lining to the drum is 0.2-0.4 millimeters. The measurement is made with a plate, control points: the top and bottom of the pad, the value is thirty millimeters from the edge of the pad. At the same time, it is controlled that the plate, 0.1 millimeter in size, does not move freely across its width.
