For questions regarding the purchase of this equipment (UAZ-3159 (long-wheelbase UAZ)), terms of credit and leasing, service and warranty, please contact the plant’s dealers or official representative offices. Delivery of the UAZ-3159 (long-wheelbase UAZ) can be carried out either directly from the manufacturer or from sites in Moscow and other regions of the Russian Federation.
UAZ-3159 is a utility all-wheel drive vehicle intended for the domestic market and export to countries with temperate and tropical climates. The car was developed on the basis of the “stretch-lux” UAZ-3153.
Compared to the latter, it has drive axles with wheel reduction gears with a wheel track of 1600 mm. Power steering is included as standard. These design solutions provide high maneuverability, greater stability, a smoother ride and better vehicle handling on roads with any surface.
A single-leaf hinged tailgate with a lock similar to those installed in the side doors and a spare tire mounted on it provides easy access to the cargo compartment, and a windshield wiper and washer on it keep the rear window clean. The car has side and rear steps for more comfortable entry into the car.
The car is equipped with a ball-type towbar, hydraulic headlight adjustment, fenders and sidewalls modified for a wide track - all this overall gives the car an elegant look.
The vehicle is additionally equipped with:
- door extensions with sliding glass;
- rear cardan drive with intermediate support;
- new 5-speed gearbox.
Power unit
The UAZ Farmer 39094 special equipment is equipped with a productive power unit ZMZ4091, which is distinguished by the following technical characteristics:
- weight excluding liquid - 190 kg;
- type - in-line petrol;
- cylinder - 4 pcs.;
- functioning diagram of cylindrical elements - 1-3 and 4-2;
- combustion chamber size - 2693 cm3.
The motor is controlled by a complex microprocessor. Partially due to this installation, an operating mode is maintained that allows you to save the fuel mixture even under high load. The crank assembly includes several main parts:
- pistons;
- cylindrical blocks;
- rings;
- cylinder head.
The design also contains a ring element responsible for thermoregulation. As for the engine lubrication device, in this case it is combined. Thanks to this system, oil is supplied to the working mechanisms by splashing.
The cooling device is used to remove heat; the device includes 6 elements:
- water type pump;
- emergency position controller;
- antifreeze or antifreeze;
- thermostat;
- temperature controller;
- radiator.
Main settings
The UAZ runs on AI92 gasoline fuel. The rated engine power reaches 112 hp. s., at a speed of 4,000 per minute. The fuel tank capacity is 50 liters, but the size can be increased as an option.
Main purpose: freight and passenger transportation
Fuel consumption at a speed limit of 90 km/h for every 100 km is approximately 15.5 liters. The rated speed excluding cargo does not exceed 105 km/h.
The technical characteristics of the UAZ Farmer include a vacuum brake system. In this case, there are drums on both the front and rear chassis. This informs that the car will be able to brake quickly in any climatic conditions.
The manual transmission has 4 forward speeds and 1 reverse. The chassis is equipped with 225/75-R16 wheels. Due to the strength of the wheel setup, bulky cargo can be loaded into the vehicle.

Price for UAZ 39094 Farmer
The price of models 39094 depends on the year of manufacture; the newer the car, the more expensive it will cost:
Year of issue
price, rub.
The advantages of the UAZ 39094 include the following factors:
- spacious cargo compartment, which can be detached if necessary;
- greater ground clearance, allowing you to drive on different road conditions;
- running layout - 4x4;
- possibility of installing a gas installation;
- spacious cabin;
- affordable price.
Weight and dimensions
Despite the rather voluminous loading part, the car has relatively small dimensions - 482x210x235.5 cm. The wheelbase is 225 cm, the ground clearance is 22 cm. Due to this, the car is excellent for work in agriculture and construction sites. It can also cross shallow rivers with a depth of up to 500 mm.
As for the mass of the UAZ Farmer, it is divided into 3 categories:
- curb weight when fully filled with liquids - 1.97 tons;
- maximum weight when loading and accommodating all passengers - 3.05 tons;
- the nominal permissible volume of transported cargo is 1.07 tons.
Chassis and suspension
From the technical characteristics, it should be noted that the main advantage of the UAZ 39094 is its increased cross-country ability. This is ensured not only by the design features of the wheelbase, but also by the power rating of the power unit, all-wheel drive, and two-speed transfer case. Due to the last element, the driver has the opportunity to independently disable the rear drive.
UAZ Farmer performs well on hilly roads or off-road. The front and rear parts have a dependent suspension, the design of which includes semi-elliptical springs, as well as twin shock absorbers. Drum units can be replaced with disk units.
As for driving the car, some difficulties may arise due to the large size of the wheels and deep tire tread.
All UAZ vehicles do not have (for unknown reasons) a center differential; accordingly, engaging all-wheel drive without a lock installed on it is impossible. If the loaf hits the mud on the right side, the left wheels will remain stationary and the right wheels will knead the mud to no avail.
Driver's cabin
The car is equipped with an all-metal cabin with 5 main seats for passengers. On the right side there is a door for convenient seating of people in the back row of seats. The interior and exterior are made without any special frills, which is more consistent with a working Farmer car.
The advantages of the cabin include the convenient location of the power unit, which is located directly under the cabin in the middle of the front seats. Thanks to this, access to the engine is open directly through the cabin. To get to the motor, just lift the protective cover. Therefore, if a problem is detected, you can fix the problem without leaving your workplace. This is especially convenient in unfavorable climatic conditions.
In addition, during operation, the power unit reproduces heat flows that are directed into the cabin and additionally heat it. On the other hand, during the hot season, this factor is more of a disadvantage, since the UAZ Farmer car is not equipped with air conditioning.
The driver's seat is quite comfortable, the steering unit has an updated look. There are standard function keys under the steering wheel that allow you to:
- wipers;
- windshield washer system.
The instrument unit is located in the middle of the working panel, which is not very convenient while driving. To view the indicators, the driver needs to take his mind off the road, and this is unsafe.
Refueling tanks
UAZ Farmer 39094 can be operated with fully filled fuel tanks:
- antifreeze tank - 2 l;
- capacity for hydraulic brakes - 0.5 l;
- shock absorption system - 0.3 l;
- engine lubrication device - 5.8 l;
- Gearbox - 1 l;
- dispensing unit - 0.6 l;
- rear and front axle - 800 ml;
- additional fuel tank - 30 l;
- hydraulic clutch drive - 180 ml.
When operating UAZ Farmer 39094, the amount of liquid may be reduced according to the following consumption rates:
- motor oil - 2.1 l;
- transmission oil mixture - 200 ml;
- plastic oil - 200 ml.
Model range UAZ 39094 Farmer
In addition to the UAZ farmer, other modifications were designed and produced on its basis:
Equipped with two doors and an extended platform, in this case the load capacity is 1.2 tons
Flatbed vehicle 3303
Has the ability to transport nine passengers
Glazed van 3741
Wagon cargo-passenger vehicle that seats six people and more than 0.4 tons of cargo
Used to carry nine passengers and 1,000 kg of additional cargo
From this information it becomes clear that the UAZ Farmer car has a large list of not only advantages, but also disadvantages. But this is justified by the relatively low cost.

UAZ-39094 is a commercial vehicle designed for transporting goods.
It has outstanding performance parameters as well as good driving characteristics. Perfect for those involved in agriculture: farmers and other similar persons.
Interior features
The interior is classic and seats five people, including the driver. The rear row of seats can be transformed into individual seats, creating a passage between them into the cargo compartment. The luggage compartment has benches on the sides for two people, which can be folded down if necessary. In general, the interior is simple - this car was created primarily for off-road use. Even the most minimal configurations of foreign SUVs of the same class are an order of magnitude superior in terms of comfort to the UAZ 3159, which is sold exclusively in the Lux configuration.
One of the advantages of this car is its good build quality. Bars is assembled not on a factory assembly line, but in an additional PAMS workshop, where the production of small series is established. The appearance of the UAZ 3159 is recognizable and simple, but it can always be supplemented with tuning. This car is chosen by true fans of SUVs, for whom power and reliability are preferable to comfort, but there is no financial means to purchase and maintain a foreign car, for example, a Range Rover SUV.
Tuning is offered from the factory as an option. The list includes alloy wheels, tinting, pre-heater and better tires. The owners' imagination is limitless, and the cost of the car can increase by 500 thousand rubles or more. If desired, you can order a partially armored body - the price of such a Leopard will be much higher. External tuning elements are also optionally available to the buyer - installation of an expeditionary roof rack with a ladder, additional lighting equipment from several spotlights on the roof, a modified hatch, and grilles for the headlights.
On the secondary market there are UAZ 3159s with interiors from premium foreign cars, all-round disc brakes, a clutch from a foreign car, hydraulic power steering, a winch and many other equipment.
Depending on the complexity and type of tuning, the cost of the car can double or triple. For that kind of money, you can actually buy the best foreign-made cross-country vehicle in terms of equipment and reliability. But for connoisseurs of the brand and lovers of the domestic automobile industry, UAZ Bars becomes the best option, regardless of price.
Engine used
The equipment of this type is equipped with an extremely reliable, productive engine of the ZMZ-4091 type. It has the following main characteristics:
- type – petrol, in-line;
- total number of cylinders – 4 pcs.;
- the direction of rotation of the crankshaft is right (when viewed from the pulley side);
- cylinder operating order – 1-3-4-2;
- combustion chamber volume – 2,693 cm3;
- working cylinder diameter – 95.5*94 mm;
- weight without filling fluids – 190 kg.
The engine is controlled by a complex microprocessor system.
It is partly thanks to this that the operating mode is maintained, making it possible to spend a minimum amount of fuel even under heavy load. In addition to controlling injection, this system works with engine ignition.
The crank mechanism of this engine consists of the following main structural elements:
- piston rings;
- piston;
- cylinder head;
- cylinder block.
Each piston has a pair of compression rings, as well as one oil scraper ring.
The piston itself is made of aluminum casting.
There is a ring insert, thanks to which thermoregulation is carried out. The special skirt is shaped to minimize power loss due to friction.
Engine lubrication system - combined
. It makes it possible to supply oil to friction surfaces under high pressure by spraying.
The gas distribution mechanism is particularly durable: this is due to the reliable materials used for its manufacture.
Thus, cast iron camshafts are made of cast metal. An alloy steel chain is used to drive the camshafts. All valves are made of heat-resistant metal and can rotate during operation.
The likelihood of them burning out is extremely low, which makes it possible to save time and money on repairs.
A liquid cooling system is used to remove heat. It consists of the following main elements:
- water pump;
- radiator;
- coolant;
- thermostat;
- engine temperature sensor;
- emergency warning sensor.
Antifreeze of any brand, as well as ordinary water, are suitable as a coolant.

- fuel consumption at a speed of 90 km/h for every 100 km, l – 15.5;
- maximum possible speed without load, km/h – 105.
Important! A special feature of this car is the brake system it uses - with a vacuum booster. Moreover, brake drums are installed both front and rear.
This allows you to be sure that the car will be able to stop as quickly as possible, even in unfavorable road conditions.
The gearbox in the UAZ-39094 is only mechanical.
, four-speed (plus one reverse speed). Tires recommended by the manufacturer are 225/75R16.
This rubber model allows you to load the maximum possible amount of cargo into the car body without fear of damaging it.
A large number of other vehicles, but more specialized ones, are also produced on a similar base to the UAZ-39094. The following modifications are possible:
- onboard (3303);
- COMBI (3909);
- glass van (29891);
- buses (8 and 9 seats).
The cost of the UAZ-39094 “Farmer” depends on the condition of the body, as well as the year of manufacture and mileage:

History and features of the Bars modification
The USSR Ministry of Defense gave instructions to create an all-terrain vehicle with a long wheelbase. In theory, it was supposed to accommodate up to 10 personnel and replace the outdated UAZ 469 and GAZ 66. 10 years later, in 1986, a test model of the UAZ 3172 Wagon appeared before the military. Outwardly, it resembled the military SUVs produced at that time by Japanese, European and American manufacturers. Its main feature was its unique technical characteristics. Compared to the serial UAZ 3151, it had better cross-country ability and comfort levels.
The UAZ Wagon remained only a test model and was not put into production due to the collapse of the USSR and perestroika - the Ministry of Defense simply did not have the financial resources to purchase military equipment. The project was not developed and remained only in documents.
A few years later they came in handy. Based on the UAZ 3151, development began on an SUV designed for 8 seats. In the design of the new product, various developments began to be used that were not implemented on the UAZ Vagon.
Weight and dimensions
Despite its excellent spaciousness, as well as a large number of passenger seats, the UAZ-39094 has relatively compact dimensions:
- body length from front to rear bumper, mm – 4,820;
- width from the edge of the left wheel to the edge of the right, mm – 2,100;
- height from the bottom of the tread to the cabin roof, mm – 2,355.
At the same time, the wheelbase is 2,550 mm, ground clearance is 220 mm.
Thanks to this, as well as the four-wheel drive, this vehicle is perfect for moving through the countryside, fields and country roads covered with ruts from tractors and KamAZ trucks.
If necessary, the UAZ-39094 can even ford through small rivers, but the depth should not exceed 50 cm.
Mass characteristics:
- equipped (when all filling containers are filled), kg – 1,975;
- full (at maximum load, with passengers and driver), kg – 3,050;
- maximum amount of transported cargo, kg – 1,075.
Suspension and chassis
The most important advantage of the UAZ-39094 is its excellent cross-country ability. It is provided not only by a wheelbase, all-wheel drive and a powerful engine, but also by a 2-speed transfer case.
With its help, you can disable the drive that drives the front axle. The approach and departure angles are extremely large. For this reason, problems with overcoming obstacles will never arise.
“Farmer” moves well on hilly terrain and off-road.
A dependent suspension is used - both front and rear.
Its main structural elements are semi-elliptical springs and paired shock absorbers (on each axle). If necessary, you can replace drum brakes with disc brakes.
The car is somewhat difficult to drive. The large diameter of the wheels, as well as the very aggressive tire tread, have an effect.
If necessary, you can install power steering in this car: today such a pleasure will cost only 20-30 thousand rubles. Considering the cost of the UAZ itself, this is not so much.
Operational characteristics of UAZ 3159
The car has a traditional all-metal body with five doors. Thanks to the extended base, the Bars is 47 cm longer than the standard UAZ. The width remains the same, although the track width has become larger and is 1 m 60 cm, which is 15.5 cm more than the UAZ 3151. Thanks to this, the SUV is equipped with wheel arch extensions and inflated fenders.
The suspension was changed slightly, but this allowed the ground clearance to be increased to 300 mm. This is the legacy of the UAZ Vagon prototype, which could move along the tracks created by trucks.
The long wheelbase also means an increased wheelbase - now the distance between the wheels is not 2380 mm, but 2760 mm, which did not affect the smoothness of the ride for the worse. In the suspension, changes affected the updating of the springs of the front shock absorbers and axle gearboxes, which made it possible to increase ground clearance. This has previously been seen on army modifications of the UAZ. Barca's ground clearance leaves far behind the ground clearance of foreign SUVs - only the American Hummer is higher.
The power of the power plant is 133 horsepower, the maximum speed is 140 km/h, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes 21 seconds. Fuel consumption is traditionally high - in the combined cycle it is at least 16 liters per 100 km of unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 92. In fact, on average, judging by reviews, the UAZ Bars “eats” about 25 liters with a payload of one ton, which is still not justifies such an “appetite.”
As standard, version 3159 is equipped with a small-module transfer case with a single-lever shift mechanism, power steering and a five-speed gearbox.
Refill tanks
The vehicle in question can only be operated if the required volumes of refueling tanks are available inside the engine. Their number is as follows:
The number of refueling containers that are filled into a car may decrease over time for various reasons.
There are certain consumption standards, they are calculated for every 100 liters of fuel:
- motor oil, l – 2.2;
- transmission lubricant, l – 0.2;
- special oil, l – 0.05;
- plate grease, kg – 0.2.
: improving the technical content, tightening up the design. All these innovations are heard and visible. And around the Ulyanovsk “old guys” - cabovers (more than 60 years on the market!) the information background is not so dense. Many people are not aware that these cars have also changed significantly in recent years: they have acquired power steering, front disc brakes, and a five-speed manual transmission. Passenger “loaves” are required to be equipped with ABS.
And at the beginning of this year, the cabover family was again modernized. To evaluate the updated UAZ-390945, I went to Ulyanovsk.
Evolution of a classic
While I was flying on the plane, I studied the changes made. The list, frankly speaking, is small.
This is really not a radical modernization,” UAZ chief engineer Evgeniy Galkin anticipated my question. “Our cabovers are the most affordable all-wheel drive commercial vehicles on the market, and they are valued for that. Here are the sales data last year: everyone dipped except us! If the model is radically updated, the price will increase significantly - and we will lose our main competitive advantage. Therefore, we decided to improve the car point by point. The main complaint from buyers was the weak frame: cracks in it were not uncommon, especially in the places where the power steering and body supports were attached. We introduced additional reinforcement in these areas, increased the thickness of the cross member, and the complaints should come to naught. In addition, the frame and body are now separated not by an ephemeral gasket, but by a soft cushion that effectively absorbs vibrations - the easiest way to identify the 2016 “tadpole” is by it.
Visually distinguishing the car will be helped by modified front bumpers with flexible plastic elements at the edges. It is unlikely that this decision will be approved in rural areas. “Security requirements,” Galkin shrugs.
Cars coming off the assembly line are still not pleased with uniform gaps. However, regular customers always turned a blind eye to this. But they regularly complained about poor corrosion resistance. Now the problem should go away: since last year, cabover bodies have been primed using the cataphoresis method and painted with modern enamels on the Eisenmann line.
The interior was remodeled and new seats were installed. The front ones are trimmed with high-quality fabric, with advanced padding and integrated headrests. And finally, longitudinal adjustment has appeared - how many generations of drivers have dreamed of it! The seat movement range is 150 mm. By paying an additional 5,000 rubles, you will receive electric heating. I wouldn’t be surprised if in a year or two they introduce ventilation. Just kidding. At the top of my list of expectations are decorative covers on numerous transmission levers, as well as getting rid of the handbrake lever that sticks vertically out of the floor. Whether these simple improvements will ever be implemented, I don’t know.
The primitive instrument cluster has sunk into oblivion. Now in the center of the front panel (it is still old-school, metal) there is a speedometer, which contains a liquid crystal display - secondary data is displayed on it. Along the edges of the speedometer there is a 12-volt socket and a slot for a single-din audio system. Below is a push-button lighting control unit, which replaced the antediluvian retractable switch.
Ulyanovsk residents decided not to stop there and just go for a walk! — abandoned the ancient “bone” steering wheel in favor of a plastic one that was more comfortable to grip. And under it they installed a pair of modern steering column switches. Before there was one, a tractor type; it took incredible effort to flip it. Relays and fuses no longer play hide and seek - they are combined in a single block. Trifles? An unpretentious client will be happy with these little things that make the car more convenient.
As before, the lump of the engine compartment rises in the middle of the cabin. But if previously it was covered with a thin layer of leatherette, now the surface is covered with carpet, which insulates much better from noise. For the sake of silence in the cabin, the ceiling was covered with needle-punched material: the sound passes through the holes and dissolves there. But this is in theory - but in reality? I’ll check now, fortunately I have a Farmer with a two-row cab.
Stall if you can
Out of habit, I poked the key into the front panel and almost scratched it: the ignition switch was not in its old place - it had moved to the steering column. A second, and the engine comes to life, filling the interior with a light velvety hum. It really became quieter!
According to our measurements, the level of internal noise decreased by 5–10 decibels, depending on the driving mode. By 2016, we adapted the engine to Euro-5 econorms. In preparation for the new standards, the engine control program had to be rewritten, after which it began to work more balanced, and most importantly, fuel consumption was reduced. You save about one and a half liters of gasoline for every hundred kilometers. Not bad, right?
Not bad, Comrade Chief Engineer, not bad.
Compared to the previous Farmer, the new one starts calmly, without convulsions or shudders - it picks up speed happily. The clutch, however, grabs at the very top. But it’s okay, I got used to it. I also got used to the sweeping shifts of the five-speed manual.
The ride quality and energy efficiency of the suspension are impressive. The Farmer passes even the monstrous-looking pit with barely noticeable swaying. That’s why in regions with bad roads Ulyanovsk cars are so valued! They also love UAZs for their excellent cross-country ability. I was running around like crazy through the back streets of the factory territory in order to park the car. In vain. He overcame all the proposed obstacles using only rear-wheel drive. I only had to connect the front axle a couple of times, and it didn’t even come down to downshifting.
For those for whom the all-terrain qualities of the UAZ are not enough (there are some), starting in July they will be offered a version with a rear cross-axle differential lock. A jeeper's dream! It will apparently raise the level of cross-country ability to a very high level. I hope in the summer, when a car with a lock falls into our hands, we will find a worthy obstacle for it.
Updated UAZ-390945 Farmer: forever young
Lorry... The word is so familiar! This was usually called GAZ-AA/MM. So what does UAZ have to do with it? Formally, after the end of production of the GAZ-MM in Gorky in 1946 and until 1949, this truck was actually assembled in Ulyanovsk. So that same lorry still has some relation to the UAZ. Well, the main thing, of course, is the carrying capacity of the new Pro – one and a half tons. Why not a lorry? The most real one.
Working on bugs
When UAZ showed its first Pro at the end of 2022, some immediately doubted: what kind of LCV could this plant have if UAZ has been building SUVs all its life?
And why did he even decide to “trample someone else’s clearing”? True, the owners of the “foreign meadow” were not too worried about the release of this “Gazelle killer”: let him trample, don’t mind. It won't trample much. And so it happened, and sales were not too large, but objective complaints against Profi appeared quite quickly. The main complaint turned out to be quite significant: the loaded Pro did not behave in the best way. No matter how you loaded it, the main weight fell on the rear single-slope axle. The rear of the truck sagged, and it itself “turned up its nose”: the load on the front axle became insufficient, and it handled poorly. This was especially noticeable when loading from a ton or more.
Many often indecently criticize domestic factories: they say they don’t want to listen to the opinion of the people. UAZ broke stereotypes and listened. The result of working on the mistakes was the new Pro, which received this somewhat... controversial official name “Lortor”. There is only one obvious external difference - the rear dual-pitch tire (except for all-wheel drive versions - for off-road use a single-pitch tire is preferable in any case). But in fact, this car has many more differences from the previous Pro version, and by and large only the engine and gearbox remained unchanged.
The greatest efforts were made to solve the problem with the handling of a loaded vehicle. To do this, a lot had to be redone.
In the standard version (there is also an extended version, I’ll talk about it a little later) the base was increased by 30 mm (from 3530 to 3560 mm). This made it possible to more evenly distribute the weight along the axles, so that now, when fully loaded, the front axle accounts for 32% of the weight (1225 kg), and the rear axle – 68% (2375 kg). Together with the front track increased by 48 mm compared to the previous Pro, these changes should make driving a fully loaded vehicle more comfortable.
Both suspensions of the new “Lorry” have also changed. The previously spaced shock absorbers and springs now have a more familiar configuration (with shock absorbers inside the springs), and the suspension itself has four trailing arms and a stiffer Panhard rod. The steering mechanism now has separate tie rod mounts (which have become straight) and a damper.
The rear suspension looks similar to the old one, but this is only a superficial and very deceptive resemblance. Firstly, there are different springs - with an increased deflection. Secondly, the track on the springs has increased by 49 mm, but the wheel track has decreased. Thanks to this, stability should increase and roll in corners should decrease. I will tell you below whether this is really so.
All the brakes all around became disc brakes (previously the rear ones were drums), and at the rear, as I already said, twin brakes appeared. As you can see, the chassis has changed significantly.
But the engine and gearbox remained the same. The engine is the already well-deserved petrol ZMZ 409 Pro with a volume of 2.7 liters (149.6 hp), the gearbox is a five-speed Dymos manual originally from Korea.
There were several cars on the test: an isothermal van and two tilt platforms: regular and extended (length - 7050 mm, wheelbase - 4180 mm). And I was very lucky that they put me behind the wheel of the extended Pro - it looks interesting, but it’s even more interesting to find out how it drives.
This body can accommodate as many as eight Euro pallets. The frame is lengthened due to two inserts - in the central part in the rear overhang. Another plus is the largest gas cylinder offered by UAZ (LPG, liquefied propane-butane). Its volume is 150 liters versus 100 liters for cars with a regular base. Factory gas equipment is, of course, an option, not basic equipment.
Now it seems that you can drive, but a UAZ is a UAZ to make testing the truck interesting. If during the test of a regular Pro, journalists once carried carrots and beets around Siberia to all sorts of lambs, then this time we were forced to immerse ourselves in work even deeper. Now we registered on Yandex and worked in a cargo taxi.
Start over
It’s strange, but I’ll be honest: I really enjoyed the registration process in the Yandex.Pro (Taximeter) application. This is where many people start. If you fail to pass this stage, a person has nothing to do in cargo transportation (just kidding).
The application itself is simple and straightforward. It has only two drawbacks: it consumes a lot of battery power (apparently due to the always-on geolocation and navigator) and an extremely high degree of suspicion. It is clear that Yandex strives to be confident in its drivers, but it was painfully difficult for the application to accept photographs of my documents. The driver’s license is still here and there, but Yandex didn’t want to accept the passport photo. Like, it’s ruined for you. Then I accepted it, but at the step of identifying my identity, the service could not believe that that wonderful young man in the passport photograph and this old wreck in the selfie were the same person. What can I do, at almost 38, I don’t look much like my 20-year-old self. But, if this worries me a little, then Yandex, suspicious of everyone, could not accept this fact and demanded from me proof that I am me. At that moment, when this began to infuriate me, and Felix Dzerzhinsky with a revolver began to look at me from the phone camera, it seems, the application changed its anger to mercy and allowed me to work. Finally! We open the door and get behind the wheel.
Inside, it’s still the same Pro, only a little better. As an option, you can now order seats from the Patriot, and the steering column has two adjustments: tilt and reach. They don't have a very wide range, but they are enough. I must say that the position of the steering wheel relative to the seat and pedals is generally good, so there are no difficulties, and adjusting the column allows you to sit perfectly. The only thing I didn't like was the ability to adjust the tilt of the seat back. Firstly, this “twist” is very difficult to find: it turns out to be exactly between the seat and the body pillar, which makes it very difficult to get to it with your hand. And turning it is even more difficult. Secondly, being 179 cm tall, I had to move the seat back quite a lot, and in this position it practically rests against the back wall. As a result, the incorrect, but very comfortable “reclining” position turned out to be inaccessible to me. And any other one, except for the “stool” one, too. I suffered for the first ten minutes, then I got used to it. And I’ll say right away: throughout the entire day of work (and there were trips not only around Moscow, but throughout the region), I never felt any discomfort from landing. And this is good.
The bad thing is that the cabin, which is large on the outside, is quite cramped inside. Formally, it is a three-seater, but, most likely, this is where the meaning of the name “one and a half” becomes clear - only one and a half people can normally sit to the right of the driver, and not two. We traveled together: me and the experienced driver Alexander, who sat next to me and performed the duties of a forwarder. There is enough space for the two of us, but, for example, we wanted to take off our jackets, but there was nowhere to put them. A small compartment under the passenger seat was occupied by tools, and the free space between us, where, according to UAZ’s optimistic calculations and very hypothetically, another passenger could sit, my very modest-sized camera case fit. As a result, there is simply nowhere to put things in the cabin. But even liter water bottles fit into the door pockets. Strange, yes.
The operation of the ZMZ Pro engine (also in the gasoline version - ZMZ 409051 and in the dual-fuel version - ZMZ 409052) has never been particularly smooth. It still dances around at idle, but for a truck it's not that big of a deal. While the engine is warming up, we launch the application and look for an order. The order arrives almost immediately, but at the other end of Moscow. Go!
Pro, but different
In the first kilometers, even before entering the Third Transport Ring, I catch myself thinking: “Hmm, but I’m not steering.” Well, nothing, ahead is “three rubles”, and then, judging by the order on Yandex, the region. It will be better to see there.
Empty Pro goes easy. So much so that I very quickly got used to overtaking loaded (and overloaded) Gazelles. I didn’t think I’d say this, but UAZ managed to make a chassis that now really looks like a car. The car obeys the steering wheel very well, does not wander in the lane and even accelerates very quickly. It is clear that it shakes noticeably on speed bumps, but on an empty truck everything is as it should be. In a word, the synthesis of a truck and a car was definitely a success. But what we couldn’t do was control the stove properly. We even have an air conditioner here (the “Comfort” package is installed), but the “knob” for the stove remains from the previous Pro. It has only two modes: “burn to...” and “freeze to...”. There is only one division between these positions, there is no intermediate one, so this is how we go: slowly frying, then slowly freezing. Just one division, but such a difference...
Meanwhile, we are approaching the warehouse for loading. Oh, how narrow it is here! Shall we get through? Easily! Despite the dimensions of the car, it turns out to be very maneuverable. It was in vain that I was internally preparing to mock the hood layout: sticking my head into a narrow entrance, turning around, squeezing through - all this can be done on this Pro without any problems.
Loading is quick: you can fold down the side board, and you don’t have to completely remove the awning to do this. But the transverse pillar of the awning can be removed, which makes loading very easy.
So, we have on board 50 bags of cement of 25 kilograms each and some small items (about 200 kg). Now we are going to the region, adding more cargo there and dragging everything together to the third point.
The character of the loaded Pro has changed somewhat. Of course, the ride became smoother. Of course, the gasoline engine frankly lacks traction. But the handling was not affected at all.
By the way, about the engine. He has a slightly strange character. It pulls well, almost like a diesel engine, from about 1000 rpm, but it makes no sense to expect any kind of pick-up at high speeds. Sluggishly turning the crankshaft, he accelerates the car to an acceptable speed, but you can forget about agility. However, once I did overtake a gazelle with the springs turned in the opposite direction.
An ambush awaits us in the area: a lot of snow and mud. The Pro drove through melted snow with puddles and deep ruts as easily as on asphalt. But on the muddy road (or rather, mud) I almost got stuck. It’s good that we have a magic (but optional) inter-wheel lock button. It smelled like a burnt clutch, but I still rocked up to the place of the second loading. I will note that the stench of the clutch is the result of my hectic, but not very smart activity (I wanted to find out where the car would get stuck, but it didn’t get stuck), and we have approximately 1.2 tons of cargo in the back. We throw another 150-200 kg of construction materials and try to get onto the road. And again this is easy. It seems like everything worked out. Now you can drive onto the highway without forgetting to turn the heater - the battle with it is endless.
So now I have almost a ton and a half behind me. That is, the maximum weight is taken. What changed? The Pro still handles great, accelerates averagely, and brakes great. But something is annoying.
This "something" is hidden in the transmission. Most likely in the gearbox. Since on long descents you need to brake with the engine (and just to slow down it’s better to just let off the gas), every time you slow down in fifth gear you have to listen to an absolutely obscene sound. This is not a hum or a grinding sound, this is the death howl of the dying iron knight Tilly-Willy. There is no sound on other programs. Moreover, each gear change is accompanied by strange fluctuations in the area of the gearbox. It seems that she is about to fall off her supports and run away from under the car. This is very annoying, because there are no other comments about the gearbox. The shifts are very clear, the gear ratios are also well chosen. At first I would like the lever to be a little longer (you have to lower your hand to switch), but then you get used to it and don’t strain yourself. But I never got used to the howling and twitching.
After unloading, the unpleasant sound disappeared, and I flew along the Yaroslavl highway at a speed of 100 km/h, which the Pro can easily maintain, to the base in Moscow. In Friday evening traffic jams, I looked at the empty space in the panel and thought that a simple radio would not hurt here, but even with the “Comfort” package it is not there. Eh, saving on matches. Okay, whoever wants to, will install it: at least there is audio training in Pro.
To eat or not to eat?
What else is there in the new Pro? He has potential. It feels like the car has been changed a lot. She no longer tries to tear the front axle off the road, and you don’t have to catch her with the steering wheel. Of course, give Pro the fool, he will load the rear overhang and swear; but if you distribute the weight humanly, then the car drives as expected. And, which is typical, even with maximum load.
What else is important to the consumer? Of course, the cost. The minimum cost of a UAZ flatbed lorry is 980,000 rubles. The minimum cost of an onboard GAZelle Business is 1,159,900. Of course, there is a difference. And the warranty situation for UAZ looks better: it gives four years or 150 thousand kilometers, and GAZ for its “one and a half” - three years or 80 thousand kilometers. Of course, not only the Pro, but also the GAZelle can have both HBO and blocking. And the GAZelle also has a full-fledged three-seater cabin, which is noticeably more spacious than the UAZ one. However, one can measure one and a half cars for an infinitely long time. The main thing is that UAZ has worked on its mistakes, and it looks quite successful.
Design and construction
The all-metal cabin of the UAZ-39094 “Farmer” truck is designed for 5 people and is equipped with an additional door on the passenger side. The passenger compartment has a small table and a powerful heater for greater ease of use in winter. The rear seats are folding, and if necessary, they can be used to create two full-fledged berths. Immediately behind the extended passenger cabin there is a metal side platform with a wooden floor and is equipped with a removable awning.
The interior of the cabin consists of soft seats with headrests, soft upholstery and adjustable backrest angle, a ventilation hatch in the roof, a storage compartment located on the panel, as well as good sound insulation of the roof.
All commercial classic UAZ vehicles are equipped with ZMZ-40911.10 gasoline engines that comply with the Euro-4 standard, and the UAZ-39094 is no exception. The engine is located under the cabin, from which it is accessible. One of the advantages of this solution is the possibility of repairs in any weather conditions, but this same solution makes traveling in the heat very difficult, the interior gets very hot. The UAZ-39094 engine with a volume of 2693 cm 3 and a power of 112 horsepower at 4250 rpm is capable of accelerating the car to 115 km/h, while fuel consumption is 17 liters per 100 kilometers at a speed of 90 km/h.
Design features
The UAZ Barce uses the platform from 3151, but its design is significantly different - modification 3153 is closest to it. The main changes affected the body and interior design. There is a new easy-to-read and functional instrument panel, a steering wheel from the UAZ 3160, a single-lever transfer case, and a handbrake drive like the 3160. All this increases the efficiency of control and the comfort of staying in the cabin.
The car is equipped with a standard audio radio and acoustics. The door glass has a sliding shape, and a hatch cut into the roof improves ventilation. The upholstery of the seats is in harmony with the overall decoration of the entire cabin.
The rear sofa can accommodate three people. Thanks to the elongated base, it is shifted deeper into the cabin, creating more comfortable conditions for passengers. Additionally, the manufacturer began to use a new material for sound insulation; double seals appeared on the doors. There is a swing door at the rear with the same lock as the side doors. A full-size spare tire is mounted on it, without interfering with free access to the luggage compartment. To clean the glass on the door, a washer is used, supplemented with a windshield wiper. For comfortable entry, the car has steps on the sills, and there is also a step at the rear.
The kit includes a standard tow hitch. The rear windows are tinted to acceptable values, the wheel rims are made of aluminum. The car has a wide track, so the fenders and sides are wider, there is a hydraulic corrector - all these elements together create a complete and stylish design of the updated SUV.
As a separate option, it is possible to install an autonomous engine heater.
