1. The key to driving safety, reasonable operating costs and vehicle availability are the features of the ROTOS® axle unit: the latest driver assistance systems and MRH air suspension with automatic reset function are standard equipment, as are large, service-efficient disc brakes and maintenance-free hub units . Our standard of quality is a 1,000,000 km warranty on the chassis (excluding wearing parts). 2. 430mm diameter brake discs and optimized air cooling system ensure low temperatures and moderate wear on the standard disc brake. 3. Friction welded axle ends ensure highly accurate wheel guidance.
Load Spread Program
Correct load distribution and reduced tire wear .
The optional Load Spread Program (LSP) prevents the drive axle from being overloaded after the trailer has been partially unloaded. It improves the trailer's handling on tight turns by reducing tire wear. Depending on the axle load, LSP automatically reduces the pressure in the trailer's rear axle air springs, restoring proper load distribution after partial unloading. The automatic cornering function activates the LSP when cornering sharply at speeds below 30 km/h and with an axle load of up to 24 tonnes. This function also makes maneuvering easier at all times. 1. When fully loaded, the total load is correctly distributed along the axles of the tractor and the isothermal semi-trailer. 2. Partial unloading shifts the center of gravity of the vehicle forward: because of this, the permissible load on the tractor axle is exceeded. 3. Reducing the pressure in the air springs of the last axle leads to a decrease in the useful wheelbase, restoring the correct load distribution. 4. Prevent tire contact with curb: With LSP, the inside turning radius of a loaded trailer increases by approximately 10%.
Advantages on tight turns and when maneuvering. On tight corners with heavy loads, LSP achieves the same effect as using an inertial steered axle: unloading the final axle reduces tire wear due to abrasion, and the shortened payload improves trailer maneuverability.
How to repair a frame
The main malfunction of cargo semi-trailer frames is deformation resulting from prolonged use or an accident. Frame repairs are carried out in specialized services using modern high-precision equipment. The first stage of repair consists of conducting diagnostics and drawing up a diagnostic chart. The inspection is carried out visually and with special equipment.
The geometric shape of the frame is straightened using hydraulic tools. The frame is securely fixed on the stocks and straightened on a special stand equipped with mobile base platforms. The deviation of the corrected frame from the normal shape does not exceed a few millimeters.
Air suspension MRH
The Multi Ride Height (MRH) air suspension ensures that the tires have the greatest possible contact with the road in any situation, regardless of the vehicle's load state. The long strokes of the air springs and the precise response of the suspension ensure the safety of the cargo and the vehicle itself.
ECAS II Electronic Air Suspension The ECAS electronic air suspension raises or lowers the vehicle to any programmed ramp height at the touch of a button. The ECAS II suspension additionally provides automatic level compensation during loading and unloading, and an auto-reset function automatically returns the trailer to working height. 1. The Multi Ride Height (MRH) air suspension ensures that in any driving situation, regardless of loading conditions, the tires of all lowered axles have the maximum possible contact with the road. When loading and unloading, the semi-trailer can be lowered in stages. The vibrations of the trailer are significantly damped, which ensures the safety of the chassis. 2. Simple and clear: chassis controls and trailer information system (TIS). 3. Thanks to the location of the longitudinal beams behind the axle unit, the receiver is protected from damage and the minimum length of the lines is ensured.
Methods for creating frames, their advantages and disadvantages
Today, all manufacturers are divided into two camps. Some primarily use welding. Others prefer to connect frame elements using rivet bolts. Each of these production methods affects the repair process of the semi-trailer frame and has both clear advantages and certain disadvantages:
- Welding method.
The all-welded trailer frame is the most popular among drivers. It has the most durable design and can adequately withstand multidirectional loads. Welded frames have proven themselves especially well in those parts of the world where the road surface cannot boast of European quality. A striking example is the Schmitz semi-trailer frame. In 2007–2008, Schmitz Cargobull had to recall more than five thousand of its semi-trailers from Russia to strengthen their riveted frames. Another clear advantage of all-welded models is their more affordable price. Welding of structural elements is carried out by robots, which has significantly reduced labor costs. The main disadvantage of the welding method is the possible weakening of the structural integrity of the metal. If low-quality steel is used or welding rules are violated, its strength is disrupted in places where the metal melts and a large amount of carbon is formed. This makes the metal brittle and unable to withstand constant external loads. The restoration of the frames of semi-trailers of this type is carried out by re-welding and straightening the roll, if any is observed. - Use of rivet bolts. The companies Schmitz Cargobull and Humbaur are fundamental supporters of the riveted method of manufacturing semi-trailer frames. They use special bolts with rivet heads and slots. The bolts cut into the metal and securely hold the entire structure. Despite their higher cost, these models are popular in Europe and North America. Also, straightening such semi-trailer frames is faster and easier than all-welded models. In most cases, it is enough to restore the thread for a new rivet bolt. At the same time, with regular, prolonged contact with poor, uneven road surfaces, there is a possibility of such bolts becoming loose. Water and various contaminants can get into the cracks that appear, causing the development of metal corrosion.
Ramp Distance Control
Adaptive Brake Light: Emergency Braking Warning .
Brake lights with adjustable delay reduce the risk of accidents. The Adaptive Brake Alert system warns drivers behind you at speeds above 50 km/h by flashing the brake lights when your vehicle is decelerating by more than 4 m/s2 during heavy braking. A small guarantee: the sensors of the electronic ramp assist Ramp Distance Control monitor the rear of the trailer when maneuvering.
Where can I buy
Buy new or used Schmitz Cargobull refrigerated semi-trailers from private individuals or from official dealers. The price of refrigerators of various modifications depends on the technical condition, model, and year of manufacture.
New vans cost approximately 4.5 - 5 million rubles, trailers up to 3 years old - 3.5 - 4.5 million rubles. Trailers that are more than 10 years old can be purchased for 2.5 - 3 million rubles.
Buying a semi-trailer.
Dealers offer the opportunity to use leasing or credit services. With this option, the final cost will be slightly higher, but there is a chance to transport cargo on a new semi-trailer, gradually paying off its cost over several years.

Air circulation to maintain constant cooling temperature
The circulation wall and flexible air channels ensure efficient air circulation, ensuring consistent cooling temperatures throughout the cargo area. The flow of cold air, dividing at the level of the ceilings, descends along the load, passes through the pallets, along the side walls and returns under the pallets to the side wall, where it is again sucked in by the refrigeration unit.
- Flow optimization: circulation wall for fast air circulation.
- Separation of cold air flow at the ceiling level.
- Flexible cooling air channels with variable zipper length.
- Pallet bumpers prevent damage to the circulation wall.
Operating principle of the brake pneumatic system
It is based on the principle of using the energy of compressed air, pumped by the processor and stored in containers. To describe it simply, the air from the tanks is transferred to the compressor.
By pressing the brake pedal, the force is transmitted to the valve, which creates pressure in the brake chambers, which are activated by the brake lever. When the driver releases the pedal, the lever weakens and the process stops.
Modern tractors are equipped with Wabco, Knorr-Bremse, Haldex systems. Wabco has proven itself to be a reliable and efficient system thanks to ABS. Two-axle semi-trailers are equipped with anti-locking 2S/2M, three-axle – 4S/3M. Regardless of the model and purpose, the energy accumulator of the semi-trailer is installed in each one. Wabco produces diagnostic tools and software that can detect defects and perform testing.
What to look for when buying a used refrigerated semi-trailer
If you choose the option of purchasing a used refrigerated semi-trailer, you should buy the newest equipment, and also clearly understand for what purpose it is being purchased and its future operating conditions.
An important factor is the condition of the refrigeration equipment, manufacturer's brand, year of manufacture, body without serious damage or dents. All door mechanisms must be in good condition and close tightly.
Transportation of perishable products and medicines is impossible without special transport. ]trailers[/anchor] Schmitz produces refrigerators and isotherms for these purposes. Like all Schmitz products, these semi-trailers are stable and durable. The automotive market offers any options for refrigerators starting from 2.5 million rubles.
A detailed overview of Schmitz refrigerated semi-trailers is presented in the video:

Schmitz semi-trailer system diagrams
Russian road transporters are very fond of semi-trailers (TS) made by German manufacturers.
Quite often, Russian drivers choose support vehicles from the Schmitz Cargobull brand. For example, an SKO refrigerator or tilt, curtain, curtain-sided SPR. Equipment of this level shows the best results among PPs of the same purpose in terms of efficiency and economy. But even Schmitz brand products can sometimes fail.
It’s good to have the manufacturer’s instruction manual at hand. But what to do if the document has long been lost? Just look for a solution on the Internet. You can read advice on forums, but the best thing to do is find a drawing of the desired unit or mechanism.
