How to make a stove on MTZ-82 with your own hands: connection diagram, why it doesn’t work

The stove at MTZ, connected to the engine cooling circuit, warms up the air in the cabin and removes frost from the surface of the glass. On some tractors the unit is installed at the factory; some owners upgrade the equipment themselves. The design includes an electric fan and deflectors that redirect the flow of warm air.

How to connect an MTZ stove

Tractor cabin heating and ventilation system
The system is designed to create a microclimate in the cabin in accordance with the requirements when working in both hot and cold weather. It consists of two fans (Fig. 125) with ME-226B electric motors, two radiators (Fig. 126), a shut-off valve (Fig. 127) and two drain valves, connecting hoses with connecting fittings, an air distribution system (see Fig. 125) , two recirculation dampers, cardboard filter.

Required Specifications

The heater installed on the machine must maintain a positive temperature inside the cabin. The fan is equipped with a toggle switch that allows you to select operating speeds or turn off the power.

The design of the device includes a manually operated valve to disconnect the heat exchanger from the cooling circuit. In this case, the impeller will supply fresh air from the street into the cabin (ventilation mode, used in the summer).

Brief characteristics of the standard device 80-8101720 are given in the table.

DIY connection diagram and process

To install the stove on the MTZ-82 with your own hands, you must:

  1. Remove the metal casing of the instrument panel, and then attach the fan housing to the cab engine shield through the rubber gasket.
  2. Open the taps and drain the coolant.
  3. Remove the plug located on the front wall of the cab.
  4. Connect the hoses to the antifreeze circulation lines so that the liquid passes through the heater heat exchanger.
  5. Connect the electric motor to the on-board network; It should be taken into account that MTZ tractors use a wiring diagram with switching of negative terminals to the body and frame. The circuit is provided with a 25 A fuse.
  6. Reinstall the instrument panel and mount the fan motor switch.
  7. Fill the cooling system with liquid, warm up the power unit and check the operation of the heater. Antifreeze leakage through the joints of the pipes is not allowed.

It is possible to use a home-made unit built on the basis of a heat exchanger from passenger cars (for example, from Moskvich-412). The unit is attached to the cabin wall. To connect to the cooling circuit, hoses with an internal diameter of 18 mm are used. The structure cuts into the lines located between the pump and the PD-10 starting motor using tees.

The advantage of a machine radiator is its small cells and increased surface area blown by air flow, which improves the characteristics of the heating device.

The principle of operation is simple and effective

Despite the rather intricate design, the tractor's cooling complex operates on a very simple principle: the engine pump pumps liquid into the cooling jacket, taking it from the lower radiator tank and displacing the spent liquid into the upper tank. Circulating through the core of the radiator, the liquid, under the influence of air from the fan, is cooled to the optimal operating temperature, after which it passes into the upper reservoir, and to replace it, the pump again pumps in new coolant from the lower one.

If the engine is cold, the thermostat sends coolant directly to the water pump, without it entering the radiator (the so-called small circulation occurs).

How to remodel a stove

The modification of the stove consists of increasing the tightness of the housing, since part of the air flow goes past the heat exchanger. The new casing is made of thin metal sheet. There are pipes for supplying warm air to the tractor driver’s feet and to the windshield. The inlet hole is covered with a shield with slots. This allows you to reduce the amount of dust drawn into the cabin. The end edges of the radiator are covered with a layer of insulating material, thereby reducing heat losses. The joints of the body parts are welded, which reduces the repairability of the unit.

The standard valve loses its seal during operation - tractor drivers are forced to work on the machine in the summer with the heat exchanger of the stove turned on. A new valve eliminates the problem, but after several cycles of use the leak appears again. The modernization consists of installing an additional ball-type valve, which allows you to regulate the intensity of liquid flow through the heat exchanger.

What to do if the stove at MTZ does not heat

Some owners of tractors equipped with a standard or home-made heater are faced with the problem of partial or complete failure of the unit.

In the event of a breakdown, it is necessary to check the condition of the hoses and connecting wires, and then dismantle and replace the damaged elements.

Possible faults

Common stove failures on MTZ tractors:

  • low temperature of air supplied by the fan;
  • electric motor failure;
  • extraneous noise and vibration when the fan is turned on;
  • fluid leak.

The electrical wiring of the MTZ 82 tractor is made according to a single-wire electrical circuit, in which the metal parts of the tractor act as the “ground”, i.e. the second wire. This wiring diagram provides a much smaller number of wires and generally simplifies the electrical system, but at the same time requires careful attention to the insulation of the wires, as well as the reliability of their fastening. Damage to the wire insulation can lead to short circuits, causing fuses to malfunction, insulation burning, and the tractor catching fire.

The electrical circuit of the tractor uses low-voltage wires of the PGVA brand with PVC insulation of various colors. The wires are assembled into bundles that are mounted and connected using special mounting and installation devices (connecting panels, plug connectors, etc.).

Wiring maintenance involves careful monitoring of the condition of insulation, contact connections and timely repair of damage. Pay special attention to the cleanliness and fastening of wires.

electrical equipment MTZ-80, old-style color wiring diagram

Tractor owners are wondering what the MTZ-82 electrical circuit is. The Minsk Tractor Plant produces agricultural machinery that is known far beyond the borders of Belarus. The use of Belarus MTZ-1221, MTZ-80 and 82 units has become widespread in agriculture and construction.

What is an MTZ electrical circuit?

Let's look at what the electrical equipment diagram of a Minsk tractor consists of. One of the advantages of Minsk technology is the use of high-quality electrical wiring, based on the fact that metal parts are designed to act as mass. The advantages of such electrical wiring MTZ-1221 include:

  • reduced number of wires;
  • simplified approach to maintenance.

But you need to take into account that wiring requires constant care and monitoring.

This will help monitor the serviceability of the wires, their insulation, and the reliability of the fastenings. If damage to the electrical circuit of the MTZ tractor is not detected in time, a fire, insulation damage, failure of electrical circuits, etc. may occur.

Let's consider the electrical equipment of Belarus tractors and a description of its operation. The electrical circuit of the MTZ-1221 has the following characteristics:

  • It has a polyvinyl chloride colored surface with low voltage.
  • Additional elements are connecting panels, connectors, and wires that can be mounted in bundles. For example, such a half-move is applied to wires in MTZ-82.
  • The PS 300A-100 socket is located on the rear wall of the operator's cabin and has 7 contacts.
  • The socket is intended for all work where electricity is needed, including when transporting goods.
  • Connection to the socket is made via a plug.
  • If the need arises, you can connect the wiring harness from other units. Both the plug and the socket have special markings that help you understand where the wires are connected.

Thus, the wiring of MTZ-80, 82 and 1221 is functional and is designed to withstand loads while the tractor is operating.

Starter in the tractor electrical circuit

A mandatory element of the electrical equipment of Minsk tractors is a starter, which is activated by a color scheme. The starter consists of the following elements:

  • Electrical engine;
  • drive unit;
  • relay;
  • switch.

Engine power is 4.8 hp. The MTZ-82 electrical circuit ensures the operation of a starter DC motor, which is made of series excitation coils. All coils have 4 poles.

To turn on the starter, the developers installed a special switch. It is located on the control panel in the operator's cab. The engine starts due to the fact that power comes from the battery. The torque from the shaft is gradually transmitted to the crankshaft, which is associated with the operation of the drive gear with the flywheel.
