Dump truck KrAZ-65032 type 2 6×6 (technical characteristics)

The KrAZ-65032 type 2 dump truck with reinforced rear suspension is designed for transporting construction bulk and bulk cargo on hard-surfaced roads, including cobblestone and crushed stone, as well as on dirt roads.

STEERING GEAR. Mechanical with hydraulic booster or integral type with built-in hydraulic booster. Open type CARDAN GEAR Cardan shafts are reinforced to transmit increased torques when operating in difficult road conditions. FRAME - ladder type, reinforced with liners to ensure optimal rigidity when operating in difficult road conditions. The spars are made of hot-rolled alloy steel channel, the cross members are stamped from high-quality structural steel. FRONT SUSPENSION. Cars with a “cab behind the engine” layout are dependent, on two longitudinal semi-elliptical leaf springs, with two hydraulic shock absorbers. REAR SUSPENSION. Rear bogie suspension: dependent, balance type, on two longitudinal semi-elliptical leaf springs. BRAKE SYSTEM. The service brake system is dual-circuit with a separate pneumatic drive. Brakes are drum type with internal pads. It is possible to install an anti-lock braking system (ABS) – Knorr-Bremse; Wabco. The parking brake system is a pneumatic spring energy accumulator. The auxiliary brake system is a throttle type with a pneumatic drive in the exhaust system.

Cabin features

The cab has a hood type with the driver's workplace located behind the engine. This arrangement provides convenient access to all components and systems of the power unit, which greatly simplifies repair and maintenance. The cabin can easily accommodate three people. The most comfortable conditions have been created for passengers. Comfortable soft sprung seats absorb vibrations well when driving on uneven roads. They can be adjusted for distance from the dashboard and backrest angle.

The basic package includes air conditioning, which allows you to feel pleasant inside the cabin even on the hottest day. A powerful autonomous cabin heater will allow you to warm the interior to a comfortable temperature, regardless of the severity of the frost outside. All production models are equipped with a liquid engine preheater, which allows you to quickly start the car in any weather. The instrument panel is located very compactly and allows the driver to always keep the readings of control sensors before his eyes. The car is equipped with an automated centralized lubrication system, which allows you to always maintain the required oil level in all systems.

The KrAZ platform is made of alloy steel 09G2S, reinforced, bottom thickness is 10 mm. The subframe is made of alloy steel. The tipping mechanism is of the balancing-lever type; piston hydraulic cylinder, single-rod with a safety valve against excess loads.

What are the differences between the main modifications?

The basic model received several modifications, which differ mainly in the size of the cargo platform and some operating parameters.

KrAZ 65032-040 has a load capacity of 17 tons, fuel consumption of 35.1 liters per 100 kilometers and a maximum speed of 75 km/h. All other characteristics are completely the same as the base model.

KrAZ 65032-0000043-02 has a load capacity of 20 tons, a useful platform volume of 12 cubic meters, fuel consumption of 36.7 liters per 100 kilometers and a maximum speed of 75 km/h. The remaining parameters are identical to the basic ones.

The KrAZ 65032 “Profi” dump truck has a payload capacity of 14 tons, a useful platform volume of 12 cubic meters and a fuel consumption of 38.7 liters per 100 kilometers. This modification is equipped with special off-road tires 550/75R21, which allow the car to perform well on unpaved surfaces.

The KrAZ-65032-0000064-02 truck has a load capacity of 20 tons, a platform with a useful volume of 16 cubic meters, fuel consumption of 37.5 liters per 100 kilometers and a maximum speed of 75 km/h. Other characteristics remained unchanged.

All components and assemblies are made from high-quality materials and are designed for long-term operation. If repairs are necessary, purchasing spare parts will not be a problem. The parts have a high degree of unification with other KrAZ production vehicles, so they can be easily purchased from official dealers of the manufacturer. The vehicle is designed to operate in any corner of the Earth at temperatures from -45 to +50 degrees Celsius. For countries with hot climates, the engine is equipped with an additional cooling system that prevents it from overheating. For cold climate zones, at the request of the client, additional more powerful heaters and engine pre-heaters are installed.

The price of KrAZ 65032 depends on the functional equipment. It ranges from 3.2 to 10 million rubles. Owners of this special equipment emphasize its high productivity and good adaptability to work in difficult conditions.

Last summer, the Kremenchug Automobile Plant demonstrated to journalists an ordinary in appearance, but interesting in content, all-wheel drive dump truck KrAZ-65032-0350041, the equipment of which was dictated by a serious contract from Saudi Arabia. The new car differs from the usual Kremenchug heroes by the Chinese Dongfeng engine, created under license from Cummins, and the Shaanxi gearbox, manufactured under license from Eaton.

The easiest way to feel the differences between such a dump truck and a traditional one is while driving, in test drive mode. Therefore, I immediately sat down in the cockpit - there were no fundamental changes inside, except for the addition of a new, European-style speedometer on the dashboard and a small on-board computer built directly into the panel with a monochrome display that displays engine operation. By the way, this display is also responsible for the tachometer, but in the bright sun it is impossible to see small numbers on the “low-blind” display, so I immediately forget about it.

You can fully use this useful and fashionable thing, which calculates, for example, engine operating hours and determines current and instantaneous fuel consumption, only in a parking lot or garage. Everything else in the cabin is like in a regular KrAZ. Although no, a new gearshift lever has also appeared with a convenient knob on top, a clear and clear gear shift icon on it. I start the engine and assess the situation by ear. The Chinese engine is not much quieter than the YaMZ, but the sound emanating from it has become softer.

I check the diagram on the gear lever and, with the help of an experienced test driver, immediately engage third gear (the transfer case is engaged in the bottom row, the locks and the front axle are disabled). And this despite the fact that the car is loaded to capacity, and the road is ascending and is far from ideal. It turns out that the transmission still has a huge reserve for worse driving conditions? The desired gear was engaged easily and clearly, at least the efforts I applied to the lever turned out to be an order of magnitude less than to the YaMZ gearbox lever.

I take off and again there is a surprise - a very predictable clutch and a sensitive gas pedal. Am I at KrAZ or somewhere? It immediately becomes clear what the matter is - this car has a new soft clutch MFZ-430 and an electronic gas pedal, since the engine already meets Euro-3 standards. The quarry road does not allow for strong acceleration, so the speed during the test drive is low, but the road profile is changeable - long climbs and sharp turns. You have to switch all the time, then a little lower, then a little higher.

This driving style allows you to almost instantly feel all the advantages of the new twin-axle on KrAZ - the Eaton gearbox and the Cummins engine - compared to YaMZ units. The gearbox switching scheme is somewhat different from the traditional YaMZ, but on the other hand it is more familiar to those who have previously dealt with imported cars. And the clarity of operation of the synchronized box is maintained in all switching ranges. The transition from the lower to the upper row is carried out by the usual clicking of the key directly on the lever.

The new 370-horsepower Cummins ISLe 375-30 (Euro-3) engine for KrAZ behaved to match the gearbox. In contrast to the standard YaMZ-238DE2 (330 hp) for this car, the Chinese inline “six” has a noticeably greater low-end torque (more high-torque) and is half its displacement (more economical). In general, the new units left only positive impressions. And in this configuration, the KrAZ may forever lose its image as a machine for strong-willed men, since there is no longer a need to use force when driving.

But seriously, from the consumer’s point of view, this configuration is more preferable, it reduces driver fatigue and increases the performance characteristics of the car - speed, dynamics and fuel efficiency. And the cost increase is no more than 1.5 times compared to the standard option. Replacing domestic units with imported analogues on trucks is becoming a trend. If earlier such options were offered by manufacturers in the form of exotic and low-priced options, today these are ordinary serial products in demand by consumers.

There are several reasons for this phenomenon: firstly, prices for imported units, especially those made in China, have become comparable to domestic ones, often with better quality; secondly, the developing branded service network, as imported units become more widespread, reliably provides them even in remote places, carries out warranty and post-warranty repairs and supplies spare parts; thirdly, domestic products with units from well-known world brands have good export potential and are better in demand abroad. That is why the Kremenchug Automobile Plant created such a car at home, counting primarily on export to countries where Cummins engines have already become widespread and enjoy a well-deserved reputation. First of all, these are countries in Africa and the Middle East, but the plant does not rule out that such machines may also be of interest in countries where YaMZ’s position has remained traditionally stable.
