The Freight Lawn has been produced since 2014 and is a representative of the fifth generation of GAZ trucks. Externally, the model is radically different from previous versions, but it was decided to leave some components.

The first thing that attracts you is the laconic and business-like design of the cabin. The new cabin module, created for all trucks of the GAZ group, was initially borrowed from the GAZelle Next family with appropriate modifications.

For the first time, the car has plastic front fenders, and the cabin has a galvanized coating. It should be noted that in previous models the cabin was always a sore spot, because... quickly rusted.

The interior has become much more spacious - there are now three comfortable seats. The standard equipment includes power windows, air conditioning, cruise control and heated seats.

The designers equipped the truck with power steering as standard, and the steering column is height adjustable.

Soft three-leaf springs, a gearbox control joystick and an electronic gas pedal are installed.

The LAWN has a new suspension - the ride of the car has become softer, and when braking the truck does not throw from side to side, which was typical for previous models. The front suspension is now equipped with anti-roll bars on both axles. The length of the front springs is 1600 mm.

For the first time, a Russian truck was equipped with ABS and ASR systems. All brakes on the new LAWN are disc brakes.

The five-speed manual gearbox has become much more reliable - it has more reliable Italian synchronizers installed.

GAZon Next with a two-row cabin

GAZ produces trucks with a double cab, the cabin of which can accommodate up to seven people, including the driver - 3 in the front seats and 4 passengers in the back row. The back row can also be transformed into a sofa, using it as a sleeping place.

Peculiarities

Yaroslavl diesel At the time of the first mentions in the press about updating the truck range, the management of the Gorky Automobile Plant planned to use foreign-made diesel engines on Lawns. However, in the process of their development, GAZ Group presented a new YaMZ-534 engine for the previous family of medium-duty vehicles. The engine turned out to be so promising that all Lawns that came off the assembly line today are equipped only with it.

Confident operation under load even at low speeds, fuel consumption of 14–19 liters per 100 km and an impressive service life of 700 thousand km are the main, but not the only advantages of the YaMZ power unit. Advanced design solutions, based on thorough research and extensive experience, promise long and trouble-free operation of medium-duty vehicles with Yaroslavl diesel engines.

Seven-seat cabin The two-row cabin of the new Lawn is well equipped and accommodates the driver and six passengers. Maximum passenger capacity was achieved through the introduction of a separate door for the second row of seats. As a result. two rows accommodate 3+4 seats, and 7 people are already a mobile crew with expanded working capabilities.

The interior is designed taking into account world “passenger” ergonomic standards. Each storage niche has its own purpose: placing documents, water bottles, glasses and small tools. Passenger seats have headrests, and the driver's seat is adjustable in three planes.

Onboard platform L=3.6 m Despite the enlarged cabin, a standard onboard platform of 3.6 m is installed as standard on the Lawn Farmer. Since the cargo-passenger version is faced with a lot of different tasks, the seven-seater car is not inferior to the three-seater modification either in the length of the base or in the load capacity (5 tons). The rectangular tilt body protects the cargo from precipitation; if necessary, it can be easily dismantled, leaving an open side platform for transporting oversized items.

For car owners for whom the standard cargo base is not enough, the Farmer is extended with the installation of an onboard platform of 5.1 m or a super extension of up to 6 m.

Standard and City versions The car is available for order in a universal version with a wheel diameter of 8.25R20, suitable for work on any paved roads, and in an urban City version with a European reduced wheel size of 245/70R19.5 and a loading height of 116.5 cm for facilitating the loading and unloading of goods when visiting retail outlets. This version of the Lawn is designed to completely replace such an obsolete truck as the Valdai.

Now the factory is preparing a replacement for it, as well as for the entire gear shift mechanism. Soon the lever will be replaced by a normal joystick, as on all foreign cars, and the current lever will be a thing of the past.
