FUSO onboard truck with crane-manipulator installation

Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter is a series of trucks produced by the Japanese concern since 1984. The family includes several different versions. The model was most widespread in the domestic market, but was also actively exported to the USA, Europe and Asian countries. The Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter series is represented mainly by medium and large-sized vehicles.

The first generation debuted in 1984 and was considered as a replacement for the outdated Mitsubishi FK models. The new product was positioned between the Canter and Great trucks.

In terms of design, the car differed little from the classic trucks of the time. Among the features of the car was a large bumper protruding forward, square headlights on the sides and a cabover cab. At the same time, export versions were equipped with round headlights. In 1987, the Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter series was restyled, receiving a new radiator grille. In 1990, the car's design changed again.

In 1992, the second generation Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter premiered. The car's appearance was completely revised, although it retained the features of the first generation. The design of the cabin has become more rounded, the design of the radiator grille and headlights has completely changed. A year later, the model appeared in an updated form. The series, initially represented by several modifications, has expanded significantly. In 1998, the Japanese concern introduced a short-wheelbase version of the Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter, and later 2 more versions were added. In February 2002, models with a 5-speed automatic transmission appeared.

In the fall of 2005, the second generation of Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter underwent an update. In addition to the exterior, the interior of the car has also changed. The truck's interior has become more spacious. In 2011, the Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter series received new engines (the changes were a response to stricter environmental standards).

Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter is an unpretentious and reliable vehicle designed for transporting various medium- and heavy-weight cargo. The equipment is perfectly adapted to work in harsh conditions and demonstrates high efficiency regardless of the location of operation.

Description

An onboard vehicle with a crane-manipulator unit (CMU) is a truck with a hydraulic or cable crane installed on an onboard platform. It is used for transporting cargo for various purposes, with the possibility of its own loading and unloading.

The unique difference of such a vehicle is that the driver, if he has the appropriate documents, can independently carry out loading and unloading operations, thereby reducing both transportation costs and the time spent on loading/unloading, which minimizes the risks of untimely delivery of cargo.

A vehicle with a CMU also has the ability to carry out complex work, such as: lifting and lowering a load due to obstacles (fences, walls), working with loads below ground level (wells, quarry work).

The CMU is usually installed behind the vehicle cab, as this provides the best balance of stability, chassis load and equipment carrying capacity. In addition, the crane mounted behind the cab minimizes the possibility of the formation of “dead spots”. In practice, as is known, the CMU is also installed on the rear part of the car frame, but at the same time the frame is either lengthened or the useful volume of the on-board platform is reduced.

As a standard, each vehicle with a CMU is equipped with outriggers, which are selected depending on the type of crane, its lifting capacity and weight, and serve to ensure the stability and reliability of the crane during operation.

The warranty of the manufacturer of the CMU on the Mitsubishi Fuso CANTER chassis is: for the CMU from 1 to 3 years, for the on-board platform – up to 2 years. At the finished product warehouses of FUSO KAMAZ Trucks Rus, standard configurations of onboard vehicles with CMU are available. The presented boards are from Nizhny Novgorod and Mega Drive LLC, Moscow, and CMU from global manufacturers PALFINGER, UNIC and Kanglim.

The selection of manufacturers of onboard platforms in standard configurations was carried out taking into account the optimization of the price-quality ratio, both for new cars and for used cars

Device

The Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter has a 4 x 2 wheel arrangement. The main elements of the car are mounted on a reinforced frame. The chassis is represented by a front axle in the form of a beam with an I-section, which ends with knuckles, and a rear axle with completely unloaded axle shafts. The front uses single-ply tires with a dimension of 215/75R17.5, and the rear uses dual-ply tires with a similar dimension. Double-acting telescopic hydraulic shock absorbers are installed on the front and rear axles, which effectively dampen vibrations that occur during movement.

Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter units are paired with various transmissions:

  • 6-speed manual transmission;
  • 5-speed automatic transmission;
  • 9-speed manual transmission;
  • 6-speed automatic transmission;
  • 10-speed manual transmission.

The most widely used versions are those with a 6-speed manual transmission, in which the first and reverse gears have constant meshing. All gears, except first and reverse, are synchronized. The transmission uses a dry single-plate clutch with a diaphragm pressure spring and a hydraulic drive.

The brake system is represented by the following subsystems:

  • Dual-circuit service brake with brake force regulator and drum mechanisms. As standard, all models in the series are equipped with an anti-lock braking system;
  • parking brake with expansion shoes installed inside the drum on the secondary shaft of the transmission;
  • Vacuum-type mountain brake, complemented by a throttle-type valve.

The electrical system is distinguished by the presence of a powerful 110 Ah battery.

The Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter is equipped with a welded all-steel cab with a torsion bar and tilting capability. Such features make the process of car maintenance easier. The interior is equipped with a sprung seat with adjustable shock absorber weight and softness, and the backrest has an adjustable lumbar support. There are also several steering wheel settings, which significantly increases operating comfort. Optionally, it is possible to install a rear view camera and electrically adjustable mirrors. The instrument panel includes several emergency and information lights. At the same time, there are many drawers and compartments in the cabin that allow you to place all your things. The steering has a built-in hydraulic booster.

The Mitsubishi Fuso Fighter series has several design options: flatbed version, chassis, van and others.
