KB-674 is a self-propelled tower crane (on rails) with a beam boom and a fixed tower. Designed for construction and installation work on the construction of residential and administrative buildings and structures with a mass of mounted elements from 2.5 to 25 tons. It has non-movable versions (free-standing or attached) - KB-674A-RK.

Produced at NKZ (Nikopol Crane Manufacturing Plant) (Ukraine). The KB-676A is currently being modified.

The KB 674 crane is designed for work on the construction of prefabricated and monolithic residential, civil, industrial and other buildings and structures with a maximum weight of mounted elements of up to 25 tons and a lifting height of up to 120 m.

A mobile crane on rails with an asymmetric portal, supported on four wheeled trolleys.
The upper rotating part of the crane consists of a pyramidal head, to which a boom is suspended on one side, and a counterweight console on the other. In its root part, a control cabin and a cabinet with electrical equipment are installed on different sides. Thus, the rotating part of the KB 674 crane is an autonomous jib full-rotating crane, resting on the tower through a roller support circle. Inside the tower there is a lift for the driver. The boom is a triangular truss, the upper chord of which and the lattice rods are made of pipes, and the lower ones are made of channels. The running wheels of a cargo trolley carrying a cargo pulley move along the shelves of the channels. The cargo winch, installed on the counterweight console, is powered by direct current from a thyristor converter, which allows for a low “landing” speed of the load and a significant depth of regulation of operating speeds.

The converter is connected to a network with a voltage of 380 V through a TV-100 power transformer with a power of 100 kW. The tower is extended from above using a mounting clip - a crane hook suspension.

The KB 675 crane is designed as a stationary attachment with a tower base in a monolithic foundation. There are special frames between the tower sections where the crane is attached to the building. The fastening parts are passed through window openings and secured to the walls or columns of the building. The lifting capacity is 12.5 tons with a lifting height of 110 m. The crane has a tower, boom, mechanisms, and mounting stand unified with the KB 674 crane.

Since 1977, the modernized crane KB 674A has been produced and on its basis the universal (rail and attachment) crane KB 676 has been created, which has four versions, differing in lifting capacity of 12.5 and 25 tons, boom lengths of 50 and 35 m and hook lifting heights of 83 and 120 m. When building up a crane tower, frames are fixed between sections, to which wall supports are connected when a certain height is reached. In the crane at a height of 49, 72.8 and 97 m, 1, 2 and 3 wall supports are installed, respectively.

Since the tower and boom are structurally made sectional, which makes it possible to assemble a crane with different tower reach and height, a number corresponding to a certain type of design is added to the main crane index through a dash (for example, KB 674-5 or KB 674A-6). Any crane model in each version could be equipped with an RPU-2 radio remote control system, then the index would indicate a zero through a dash (for example, KB 674-0-1). The lifting speed for loads weighing up to 9 tons is 35 m/min, and for large ones – 17.5 m/min. The following are used: an electric drive for winding up the tower sections, an equipment cabin instead of electrical cabinets, a reinforced running frame, a simplified installation diagram for the boom guys.

Cranes of all designs are controlled from the control cabin by command controllers, and cranes of designs from “A-0-1” to “A-10-1” are additionally equipped with a television and radio program control system (RPU-2). In this case, transport operations for the delivery of goods are performed automatically according to a given program. Executions can be obtained based on the basic model by changing the number of sections of the tower, boom, hook clips or cargo trolleys and have different characteristics.

The fixed tower houses a passenger lift for two people. The tower is built up from above with replaceable intermediate sections using its own mechanisms. The main boom and counterweight console are beam type, sectional, triangular in section. A cargo trolley with a hook clip moves along the lower belts on the main boom, and cargo trolleys move on the counterweight console.

The crane is powered from a 380V AC network with a frequency of 50Hz, with a transformer power of at least 300 kVA•A. Movement of a crane with a load is allowed only for cranes of design “A-0” with a tower height of no more than 46 meters.
