Then another piece of pipe is selected, 80 mm long and approximately 58 mm in diameter, which is placed with a gap on the previous piece of pipe. In this way, a telescopic shaft is obtained from two pipes connected by M6 bolts with locknuts. The bolts are located diametrically opposite, and several holes are made - this will allow you to adjust the height of the cut lawn grass using pipes that are shifted relative to each other and partially compensate for the imbalance. The base of the knife is prepared - a metal disk with a diameter of 180 mm made of sheet steel 4 mm thick is welded to the second pipe.

Three knives are made from an old wood hacksaw - a 30 mm wide strip is cut from the blade using a grinder and cut into pieces 120 mm long. Holes are made in the knives using electric welding. Which engine is suitable for production?

The mower can be assembled using any engine. Most often, homemade products are equipped with gasoline and electric motors. Much less often - with batteries previously removed from old VAZ, GAZ or Moskvich cars.

When choosing an engine, it is important to consider several important criteria:

power - it is best to equip a homemade mower with a gasoline or electric motor with a power of 2-4 liters. With. Engines with higher power are suitable for lawn mowers designed for tall grass and uneven areas;
type of cooling - this factor plays a role in the case when a gasoline internal combustion engine will be used to assemble a homemade product. Next, we need to dock the working shaft of the scythe with the shaft of the chainsaw. First of all, we need to cut off the clutch cup of the lawn mower, in the end there should be one plate left. To give the plate a perfectly round shape, the author uses a drilling machine.

At the next stage, you need to make an adapter that will allow you to hook onto the chainsaw sprocket. The author makes this adapter himself from a thick iron plate. We transfer the outline of the star onto the workpiece by painting and get to work. We drill out the core and other areas on a drilling machine. Well, then we arm ourselves with a file and finalize the part. At the end, all we have to do is cut the part to a round shape and weld it to the plate that remains from the clutch cup.

Step five. Handle and assembly

We make a strong handle for a lawn mower; the author made it himself from a pipe. We attach the handle to the bar using fasteners from a lawn mower. We put a “trigger” on the handle to control the engine from the lawn mower. And to connect the cable to the chainsaw throttle, the author uses a special homemade fastener.

At the end, all we have to do is install the fasteners on the bar with which we will hang the braid. That's all, after this the homemade product is ready, you can test it. We go to the field, start the engine and get to work. The machine can easily cope with fairly thick grass.
