Engine
The MTZ 1025 engine is an economical, easy to maintain and durable turbocharged diesel engine with a power of 105 hp. With an average consumption of 171 g/hp/h, the traction characteristics of the four-cylinder power plant are sufficient to fully activate a wide range of attachments.
Unlike imported analogues, the branded D-245 engine does not require special fuels and lubricants, therefore it can operate on different types of diesel fuel and standard lubricants. Fuel tank capacity is 156 liters. Starting the engine in winter frosts is simplified by electric torch heating of the intake air.
Electrical equipment
The MTZ-1025 tractor is equipped with a 700 W generator, a 6 kW starter and a battery with a standard voltage of 12–13 V. To facilitate starting the engine in the cold season, an electric torch heating is installed upon additional order from the consumer.

Transmission
The tractor gearbox is mechanical, four-speed with synchronized gear shifting within the range. Control is carried out by the gear shift lever in the range and a separate lever is used to switch the ranges.
Transmission section
The gear shift lever within the range switches on two forward speeds and one reverse. Additionally, using the same lever in the range, switching the high-low gear divider doubles the number of speeds to 4 forward and 2 reverse. Thus, taking into account the four ranges, the tractor receives 16 forward gears and 8 reverse gears. The gearbox provides forward speeds ranging from 2.3-36.6 km/h and backward movement at speeds ranging from 4.1-17.2 km/h . Additionally, to obtain ultra-low technological speeds, the gearbox can be equipped with a creeper. The operation of the gearbox is associated with gears of the first range. The control drive is brought out by a separate lever into the cabin on the left side of the driver.

Rear axle
The driving rear axle has a traditional design identical to the MTZ 80 with a bevel main gear and a closed differential, cylindrical pairs of final drive gears. The service brakes are normally located on the outer edges of the final drive axle shafts on both sides of the outer part of the rear axle housing. Rear axle
The differential lock on tractors 1025.2 and 1025.3 in some configurations is carried out by a pedal through a mechanical valve switching drive, as part of the hydrostatic steering control, to supply oil pressure to the friction clutch. The remaining modifications have only an electro-hydraulic drive that is activated by a button on the side control panel and has three modes: blocking disabled, automatic mode, forced mode.

Tractors can be equipped with either dry brakes or oil brakes. So on MTZ 1025.2 and 1025.3 three-disc dry friction brakes are installed, on other modifications - wet multi-disc brakes. The pneumatic drive of tractor trailer brakes 1025.2, interlocked with the main brakes, has a single-wire circuit. In other modifications, the tractors are equipped with a two-wire pneumatic drive. PTO
The gearbox for turning on the rear power take-off shaft incorporates disc friction clutches instead of band brakes; the remaining mechanisms are absolutely identical to those of the MTZ 80 tractor. Power take-off is carried out in an independent mode with speeds of 540 and 1000 rpm. thanks to switching the two-speed gearbox using a leash from the bottom of the intermediate part of the transmission housing. In synchronous mode, the shaft rotates at a speed of 3.5 revolutions per meter of travel. To drive aggregated machines, the PTO provides power up to 69 kW.
Rear PTO mechanism
Switching of PTO operating modes is carried out from the tractor cabin, using a lever controlling the cam clutch for engaging the drive. The middle position corresponds to neutral, the left position corresponds to independent operating mode, and the right position corresponds to synchronous operating mode.
Direct control of the planetary gearbox for engaging the PTO is carried out by a lever with a hydromechanical drive; on the tractor of the latest modification MTZ 1025.6, activation is carried out by a button through an electro-hydraulic drive.
Front drive axle and its drive
Reinforced beam front axle with planetary spur gearboxes, main gear with a pair of helical bevel gears, limited-slip self-locking differential.
The axle drive is built into the gearbox, the electrical activation of which is ensured by a hydraulic clutch. The FDA operates in two modes - automatic and forced. - I’ve been working at MTZ-1025 for four years now, cultivating 100 hectares. I plow with a reversible three-furrow plow, a cultivator with a working width of 6 m. I showed myself well in transport work, for example, it pulls a barrel of about 10.5 m3 calmly, the main thing is to be more careful on descents. Previously, I kept the DT-75 specifically for plowing, now the “1025” covers the entire list of works, although I still have the MTZ-82 in the wings.
- This is my second year using the equipment. The original front fenders are an obvious defect, they wrap up no matter how you adjust them, I suffered for several days and then threw them out. The engine is good, there is enough power, but it got warm under load, I tried changing the thermostat, it didn’t help. It turned out there was a problem with overheating, this is not only a problem with my tractor, I solved it by installing a 5-row radiator. The hitch has two vertical power cylinders, this is a big plus, but there is no forced lowering, which is very frustrating, only under the weight of the equipment. The steering is excellent, control of the PTO and front axle is convenient. In general, the car is not bad, but there are plenty of disadvantages.
